Educational Assistant Upper Grand District School Board is hiring a temporary, full time Educational Assistant at Hyland Heights Elementary School in Shelburne, Ontario. The position is 1.0 FTE, 32.5 hours per week, on the 10-month school-year calendar. The end date is unknown and will not extend beyond June 30, 2027. Start date is as soon as possible.
Compensation: $30.92–$36.74 per hour, plus applicable vacation pay under the ESA. The stated wage rate is effective September 1, 2025.
Responsibilities Support students with diverse behavioural, safety, medical, and physical needs, individually or in groups.
Assist with lifting, toileting, positioning, and transferring students and equipment; use Behaviour Management Systems techniques where required.
Work with students, classroom teachers, parents, and school administration.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications Educational Assistant diploma, or equivalent education and work experience in child development and/or special education.
Valid Behaviour Management Systems certification is required.
Post-secondary degree in a related field, recent experience supporting students with special needs and behavioural disabilities, and school-based experience are preferred.
Autism Spectrum Disorder and lifting/positioning training are preferred.
Ability to perform the physical duties of the role and access to reliable transportation to attend assigned schools.
