Our client is a well-established and locally trusted paving company serving Ottawa, Carp, and Arnprior. Specializing in asphalt, concrete, and interlock for both residential and commercial projects, they’ve built a strong reputation on quality workmanship, efficiency, and long-standing client relationships. This is a growing, entrepreneurial business with a hands-on owner and a close-knit team that takes pride in getting the job done right.
Responsibilities Include: Prepare accurate estimates, proposals, and tender submissions for paving, concrete, and related construction projects.
Review drawings, specifications, and tender documents to understand project requirements and ensure pricing reflects the full scope of work.
Visit prospective and active job sites to take measurements, assess conditions, and verify quantities.
Coordinate with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain pricing and confirm availability.
Manage projects from estimating and award through execution, progress billing, and completion.
Coordinate with ownership, office staff, and field crews on schedules, resources, project requirements, and deadlines.
Monitor project costs, progress, and quality, addressing issues that could affect profitability or delivery.
Complete site measurements and supporting documentation in time to meet progress billing deadlines.
Maintain strong client relationships, respond professionally to questions,



and work constructively through project specifications and expectations.
Support business development by following up on opportunities, maintaining existing relationships, and identifying potential new work.
Provide ownership with clear updates on estimates, awarded work, project performance, and outstanding issues.
As the Estimator/Project Manager, you will take ownership of both pricing work and seeing it through to completion. You will prepare tenders, conduct site measurements, review detailed specifications, and coordinate project delivery while keeping a close eye on costs, timelines, and billing requirements. Working closely with the owner, office, and field crews, you will ensure commitments are followed through, and clients receive responsive, professional service. Approximately 60% of your time will be spent in the field and 40% in the office.
The Ideal Candidate is an experienced estimator and project manager with a background in paving, concrete, civil construction, or a closely related field. You are reliable, practical, and comfortable taking ownership of your work. You can interpret detailed specifications, prepare competitive pricing, and manage the commercial side of a project while staying connected to what is happening on site.




You bring sound business judgment, communicate well with clients and crews, and understand how estimating accuracy, timely billing, and follow-through affect profitability. You are also comfortable building relationships and contributing to new business.
What Will Make You Stand Out: Estimating and project management experience in paving, concrete, or civil construction.
Experience preparing tenders, completing quantity takeoffs, and interpreting drawings and detailed specifications.
Strong attention to site measurements, progress billing deadlines, and project documentation.
Commercial awareness and the ability to protect margins while maintaining positive client relationships.
A hands-on approach and willingness to spend substantial time on job sites.
Strong organization, dependable follow-through, and the ability to work independently.
An interest in business development and growing existing client accounts.
