The Canmore Public Library is now accepting applications for the position of Summer Literacy Programmer.We are seeking two students to prepare and run our annual Summer Reading Game. This chance takes place at the Canmore Public Library in the beautiful Rocky Mountains of Alberta and runs from mid May to the end of August.Duration: May 19, 2026 – Aug 22, 2026Hourly Wage: $19.94The Summer Reading Game is a program designed to keep children and families reading during the summer. The program’s purpose is to promote literacy and community connections across all demographics. The more everyone reads, the more chances they have to win awesome prizes like helicopter rides and white water rafting trips!Work PlanSummer staff have from the middle of May to the end of June to plan, prepare and promote the SRG. This includes visiting schools, purchasing supplies and materials, and canvasing the community for donations for prizes. The game officially begins on July 1, with all programs and activities in full swing.



The last week is reserved for tidying up, gathering feedback, and evaluating performance.Candidate profileThe ideal candidate for this position is a highly motivated independent individual who has an interest in working with children, as well as Librarianship.
