Key Responsibilities:As a Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) you will support PCH residents by assuming the following responsibilities:Community Driven:Establishes and maintains valuable interpersonal relations with colleagues, residents, families, volunteers, and the communityCaring Service:Collaborates with other members of the care teamAssumes responsibility for medication administration, narcotic control, removal of discontinued, unused, or expired medication, application of treatments and dressings, transcription of Physician orders, reordering of medications, preparation and other skillsPromotes the PCH's philosophy of carePromotes and supports the Resident's Bill of RightsCompletes other duties as assignedProfessionalism:Is accountable to the Nursing leadership team for providing nursing care and clinical intervention for the care and services delivered to the Residents on the assigned RHAFunctions in accordance with Guidelines for Ethical Behaviour in NursingParticipates in the Home Area programs (e.G. Occupational Health and Safety Program, Quality Monitoring and Analysis Program, and Fire Safety).Promotes a co-operative working environmentInnovative Approaches:Demonstrates a commitment to the Mission, Vision,



and Values of PCHProvides input to the development and revision of Personal Care policies and procedures and communicates changes to staffFacilitates team building and promotes change and innovative ideasUses scientific knowledge in a systematic approach to identifying problems and in problem solvingSeeks out opportunities to maintain competency and to continuously learn, taking an active role in continuous quality improvementQualifications:Post-graduate studies in Geriatrics and Nursing Administration is an assetCurrent certification of competence of the College of Nurses of OntarioCurrent Medication Certificate which meets the College of Nurses Standards of PracticeOne year experience in a long-term care facility with knowledge and interest in gerontologyMembers R.P.N.A.O./R.N.A.O./Gerontological Nursing Association preferredApplicants must successfully pass the prescribed Vulnerable Sector CheckJob Requirements:Member of CNO with Active RPN LicenseValid First Aid & CPR CertificationMust present a clear Vulnerable Sector Check (completed in the last 6 months)Completed 2-Step TB TestMust be available to work weekends and statutory holidays
