About the Firm
Our client is an established Montréal CPA firm with more than 40 years of history, combining modern technology with genuinely personal service.

Their clients rely on them not only for financial statements, payroll, and tax returns, but also for advice, strategy, and practical guidance from professionals who understand their businesses and where they want to go.

The firm works primarily with owner-managed businesses and high-net-worth clients and takes an entrepreneurial approach to accounting and advisory services.

Internally, the culture is dynamic, collaborative, entrepreneurial, and highly autonomous. The team is constantly improving systems, processes, and technology—including the thoughtful use of AI—to reduce repetitive work and spend more time solving interesting problems for clients.

This is a firm where people are trusted to take ownership, contribute ideas, and work independently while being part of a team that values excellence, accountability, and having fun along the way.

About the Role
We are looking for a Client Advisor, CPA who can combine strong technical accounting expertise with excellent client relationship management.

This is an ideal opportunity for a CPA with approximately 3–7 years of experience who is ready to take greater ownership of client relationships while remaining actively involved in year‑end work.

You’ll act as a trusted advisor and key point of contact for clients, manage files and relationships, and work closely with the broader accounting team to ensure engagements move forward efficiently and accurately.

The right person enjoys both sides of public accounting: working with people and building relationships, while still being comfortable getting into the details of a file when needed.

What You'll Do
Client Advisory & Relationship Management

Manage and develop relationships with a portfolio of clients.

Act as a trusted point of contact for client accounting and business needs.

Develop a robust understanding of each client’s business, priorities, and objectives.

Guide clients through year‑end requirements, accounting matters, deadlines, and required documentation.

Provide practical, business‑minded advice and identify issues requiring further discussion or planning.

Build long‑term relationships based on responsiveness, trust, and strong client service.

Year‑End & Technical Accounting

Remain hands‑on with year‑end engagements and support the year‑end team as needed.

Prepare and/or review compilation engagements, working papers, and financial statements.

Review accruals, adjustments, broker write‑ups, and other year‑end accounting items.

Analyze financial statements and investigate unusual balances or transactions.

Work through accounting and tax issues and ensure files are accurate, complete, and ready to move forward.

Contribute to corporate and personal tax matters as appropriate.

Maintain clear, organized documentation and high‑quality working papers.

The firm’s current year‑end environment includes compilation engagements, corporate and personal tax returns, and Canadian tax matters such as CDA, RDTOH, SBD, and section 15(2).

Work closely with other Client Advisors, CPAs, preparers, and firm leadership.

Take ownership of assigned client files, priorities, and deadlines.

Provide guidance and support to team members where appropriate.

Help keep engagements moving efficiently and proactively address roadblocks.

Contribute ideas for improving processes, systems, and client service.

Use technology and AI thoughtfully to improve efficiency and the way work gets done.

Operate with a high degree of autonomy while remaining collaborative and accessible to the team.

What We're Looking For

Approximately 3–7 years of relevant public accounting experience .

Strong hands‑on year‑end accounting experience .

Experience preparing and/or reviewing compilation engagements and financial statements.

Strong understanding of Canadian accounting and tax matters.

Experience managing client relationships or functioning in a Client Manager / Client Advisor capacity .

Comfortable balancing client management responsibilities with hands‑on technical work.

Strong financial‑statement analysis and problem‑solving skills.

Highly organized and able to manage multiple clients, files, and deadlines.

Proactive and comfortable taking ownership without needing to be closely managed.

Resourceful, solutions‑oriented, and comfortable figuring things out.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Comfortable with technology and interested in finding smarter, more efficient ways to work.

Experience with CaseWare and Taxprep is highly relevant.

Ideal Background
The ideal candidate has progressed beyond being solely a preparer and is comfortable owning client relationships , while still having the technical ability and willingness to roll up their sleeves and contribute to year‑end work.

What the Firm Offers

$80,000–$110,000 CAD base salary , depending on experience.

Performance bonus opportunities.

Comprehensive health and dental benefits.

Flexible hybrid work environment.

A high level of autonomy and ownership .

Direct client exposure and meaningful relationship‑management responsibilities.

Continued technical and professional development.

A contemporary environment that embraces technology and smarter ways of working.

A collaborative, entrepreneurial culture where your ideas matter.

A team that takes its work seriously while still valuing having fun along the way.

Who Will Thrive Here?
This role will suit someone who wants the professional challenge and client exposure of public accounting without an overly rigid or corporate environment.

You're likely to enjoy this opportunity if you're entrepreneurial, personable, proactive, technically strong, and comfortable working autonomously . You enjoy building genuine relationships with clients, take ownership of your work, and aren't afraid to get into the details when a file needs your attention.

Interested?
If this sounds like the right next step for you, we'd love to hear from you.

We look forward to learning more about you!
