Cowan Insurance Group is looking for a highly qualified Commercial Account Representative to join our Commercial Insurance - Programs Team!

This role is reporting to the Supervisor, Programs and Broker Services. You will work closely with the Sales Consultant and Commercial Account Assistanton new and existing clients. You will build and maintain relationships with existing and new clients to maximize retention and identify future opportunities within all lines of business in Cowan Insurance Group. Programs currently managed by the team could include Not-for-Profit, Beauticians, Hospice, Condominiums, Driving School, Hearing Practitioners, Self Storage and Limousine.

What you will do:

Responsible for all aspects of service on assigned book of business

Manage renewal information gathering from clients and ensure all necessary applications are completed on renewal

Negotiate renewal and endorsement terms with insurance carriers

Review new business and renewal policies to ensure accuracy and completeness

Make recommendations to client for coverage enhancements identified during renewal review

Manage day to day requests from clients and insurance companies

Complete complex Certificates of Insurance for clients

Request endorsements, including additions and deletions to policy and provide support when needed to Commercial Account Assistant for final processing

Maintain accurate account billing and correct accounting discrepancies in a timely manner

Responsible for accounts receivable on assigned book of business and following accounts receivable procedures

Contribute to the client relationship by providing customer service excellence in all client dealings and attend client meetings as required

Provide backup support to other members of the program team as required

Maintain knowledge of all CIG lines of business by attending information sessions to successfully suggest referrals for cross-sell opportunities

Attend industry events related to program as required

What you will bring:

RIBO license required





2 to 3 years previous insurance experience

Experience in servicing commercial insurance accounts

High school diploma or equivalent; post-secondary education is an asset

CAIB or CIP designations (or working toward designations) would be an asset

Excellent communication skills; written and verbal

Proficient use of Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel)

Experience with EPIC would be an asset

Demonstrate comprehensive knowledge of client exposures

Demonstrate ability to identify issues and implement effective solutions

Ability to manage high volume while maintaining attention to detail

Professional, proactive, and positive work attitude is essential

The expected base salary range for this role is $44,700 to $64,000. Final compensation may vary and will take into account factors including relevant experience, qualifications, skills, knowledge and internal equity.
