Operations Assistant (Bus Dispatcher)

Location: Peterborough, ON
Schedule: 12-hour shifts - NIGHT SHIFT
Reports To: Operations Manager and Operations Supervisor – Dispatch

Position Summary

The Operations Assistant – Night Shift supports the overnight dispatch operation to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient transportation services across the network. This role provides operational coordination, compliance oversight, administrative support, and real-time communication between drivers, maintenance, and operations leadership.

Working under the direction of the Operations Supervisor, the Operations Assistant helps maintain service continuity, regulatory compliance, and accurate operational documentation throughout the night operation.

Key Responsibilities

Complete nightly dispatch functions including confirming and updating bus schedules, multi-day trip tracking, and future coach assignments

Support real-time scheduling adjustments and operational continuity

Monitor driver attendance, sign-in/sign-out, and readiness for duty

Communicate operational updates to drivers and leadership

Monitor dispatch systems to verify vehicle assignments and coverage

Assist with service disruptions, delays, accidents, and incident documentation

Monitor compliance with Hours of Service (HOS) regulations and collective agreement requirements

Maintain dispatch records, operational documentation, and shift handovers

Support operational reporting, audit preparation, and team communication

Perform additional operational duties as assigned

Qualifications

Minimum 1 year of dispatch, scheduling, or transportation coordination experience

Experience in a unionized environment considered an asset

Strong organizational, communication, and multitasking skills

Proficiency with Microsoft Office and dispatch systems

Ability to work independently in a quick-paced overnight environment

Bilingualism (English/French) considered an asset

Working Conditions

L’Adjoint(e) aux opérations – Quart de nuit soutient les activités de répartition de nuit afin d’assurer des services de transport sécuritaires, fiables et efficaces à travers le réseau. Ce rôle fournit du soutien en coordination opérationnelle, conformité réglementaire, administration et communication en temps réel entre les chauffeurs,



la maintenance et l’équipe des opérations.

Sous la direction du Superviseur des opérations, l’Adjoint(e) aux opérations contribue au maintien de la continuité du service, de la conformité réglementaire et de l’exactitude de la documentation opérationnelle pendant les opérations de nuit.

Responsabilités principales

Effectuer les tâches de répartition de nuit, incluant la confirmation et la mise à jour des horaires d’autobus, le suivi des voyages de plusieurs jours et l’attribution future des véhicules

Soutenir les ajustements d’horaires en temps réel et la continuité des opérations

Surveiller les présences, les entrées/sorties des chauffeurs et leur aptitude au travail

Communiquer les mises à jour opérationnelles aux chauffeurs et à la direction

Surveiller les systèmes de répartition afin de valider les affectations et la couverture des véhicules

Participer à la gestion des interruptions de service, retards, accidents et à la documentation des incidents

Assurer le respect des règlements sur les heures de service (HOS) et des conventions collectives

Maintenir les dossiers de répartition, la documentation opérationnelle et les suivis de relève entre quarts

Soutenir la préparation de rapports opérationnels, audits et communications d’équipe

Effectuer toute autre tâche opérationnelle assignée

Qualifications

Minimum d’un (1) an d’expérience en répartition, planification ou coordination du transport

Expérience dans un environnement syndiqué considérée comme un atout

Excellentes compétences organisationnelles, de communication et de gestion des priorités

Maîtrise de Microsoft Office et des systèmes de répartition

Capacité à travailler de façon autonome dans un environnement de nuit rapide et dynamique

Bilinguisme (français/anglais) considéré comme un atout
