Position Description

We are seeking an experienced Cognos Developer / Analyst with strong Oracle Database expertise to develop and support enterprise reporting and analytics solutions. The successful candidate will bring hands-on experience with Cognos report development, Oracle SQL and PL/SQL, performance tuning, data analysis, and production support

This role is hybrid and requires you to be at our downtown Toronto and/or Client office at a minimum 2 days per week subject to change at any time.

Your future duties and responsibilities

Develop, maintain, and enhance reports, dashboards, and scorecards using IBM Cognos Analytics.

Design and maintain Framework Manager models and metadata layers.

Write and maintain complex Oracle SQL and PL/SQL, including queries, procedures, functions, and packages.

Gather and analyze business requirements, translating them into reporting and analytics solutions.

Tune Cognos reports and Oracle queries for performance and scalability.

Troubleshoot reporting issues, investigate data discrepancies, and perform root cause analysis.

Work with business users, analysts, and development teams to gather requirements and validate solutions.

Support deployments across Development, QA, UAT, and Production environments.

Perform report testing and data validation, and support user acceptance testing.

Prepare and maintain technical design documents and operational procedures.

Provide production support, manage incidents, and resolve defects.

Required Qualifications To Be Successful In This Role

5+ years of experience with IBM Cognos Analytics or Cognos BI.

Hands-on experience with Cognos Report Studio / Cognos Analytics Reporting and Framework Manager.

Experience with Query Studio, where applicable.





Experience developing dashboards and data visualizations.

Strong Oracle Database experience, including:

Advanced SQL and PL/SQL

Query optimization and performance tuning

Data modeling concepts

Experience working with large datasets and complex relational databases.

Robust analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills.

Familiarity with SDLC, change management, and release processes.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with Cognos report bursting, scheduling, and security administration.

Exposure to ETL tools and data warehousing concepts.

Experience with Unix/Linux environments and shell scripting.

Experience in financial services or compliance, legal, audit, or regulatory reporting.

Familiarity with version control tools such as Git.

Experience with Power BI, Tableau, or other business intelligence tools.

The determination of this range includes factors such as skill set level, geographic market, experience and training, and licenses and certifications. Compensation decisions depend on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $70,000–$120,000. This role is an existing vacancy."
