SUMMARYLevitt-Safety is currently recruiting a Shop Technician to perform Fire Services to train and work in the inspection and maintenance of fire extinguishers, and Fire and Life safety equipment for our customer base in Sudbury and Northwestern Ontario. The responsibilities for this position will be split at approximately 80% performing inside shop technician duties, 15% assisting in providing mobile service work on customer sites, and 5% performing other duties as needed.We are willing to train the right candidate who is willing to grow and pursue a career in fire and life protection services.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESTrain to perform Hydro-Testing of both low and high pressure extinguishers and cylinders as requiredFilling and repairing extinguishers and cylinders as neededMaintaining shop equipment and working with the Service Supervisor for repairs as neededEnsuring safe use of all shop tools and equipment including use of company service vehicleTimely and accurate completion and submission of paperworkParticipate in mandatory safety training and industry certificationsProvide warranty repair and service as necessaryProvide field assistance to outside technicians as requiredFit Testing services both in house and at customer sites as requiredPickup and delivery of service work and completed jobs as requiredWork under the guidance of the Ontario Service Manager, Sudbury Service Supervisor, and Service Coordinator assignedOther duties as assignedQUALIFICATIONSPrevious experience in a shop environment, an assetMechanical aptitude with a background in troubleshooting equipment is idealPrevious experience communicating with customersExcellent verbal and written communication skillsGood computer skillsClean drivers abstractPhysical Safety RequirementsThis is a physically demanding and safety-sensitive role involving various types of equipment and work environments. As such the following are core requirements for this role:Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs unassisted, coupled with positive hand/eye coordination and manual dexterityPhysically able to work in restricted or confined workspaces, including using ladders and walkways on large equipmentAble to pass pre-employment and periodic drug and alcohol testing as well as criminal background checksProof of full COVID-19 vaccination is required as part of our pre-employment checks, subject to requirements for accommodation.
