The General Accountant is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, supporting month-end and year-end close, preparing financial reports and reconciliations, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards and company policy. This role also owns commission payment processing: calculating, validating, and ensuring commissions are paid accurately, on time, and in line with contractual agreements.Compensation: CAD $68,000–$78,000Vacancy Status: This is an exciting opportunity to join our team in a key role with immediate availability.Hybrid Schedule: First week new hire training will be 3-5 days in office, then once per week in office on Thursdays.Office Location: Richmond Hill, ON L4B 1J2What You'll Do:Prepare journal entries, accruals, and adjusting entriesMaintain the general ledger and perform account reconciliationsSupport month-end and year-end close and financial reportingReconcile bank, credit card, and intercompany accountsMonitor AR/AP and support tax and regulatory filingsMaintain fixed asset records and depreciation schedulesCalculate, validate, reconcile, and process commission paymentsReview commission calculations and investigate discrepanciesPrepare commission statements and maintain supporting documentationSupport audits and ensure compliance with accounting standards and internal controlsIdentify opportunities to improve accounting and commission processesAssist with special projects and other finance-related duties as neededWhat You'll Bring - Core Competencies:Accounting Foundation: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; 3–5 years of accounting experienceCommissions & Close: Experience with commissions/incentive compensation and month-end closeTechnical Knowledge: Strong knowledge of GAAP/IFRSExcel Proficiency: Advanced skills, including PivotTables and XLOOKUPSystems Experience: ERP/accounting systems experience; NetSuite a plusAI & Tech Fluency: Comfortable using AI-assisted tools (e.g., reconciliation support, reporting,
