About Jade Legal
Jade Legal Services Professional Corporation is an Ontario-based legal practice specializing in Accident Advantages, Provincial Offences, and Small Claims matters.
We are seeking an experienced, highly organized, and detail-oriented Accident Benefits Legal Assistant, Law Clerk, or Licensed Paralegal to join our team.
This is an excellent opportunity for a legal professional with strong knowledge of Ontario's Statutory Accident Benefits Schedule (SABS) who is looking for a long-term position with the flexibility to work remotely.
We are looking for someone who takes ownership of their work, demonstrates initiative, pays close attention to detail, and can confidently manage assigned responsibilities with minimal supervision.
Please note: A minimum of two years of direct, hands-on experience working with Ontario Accident Benefits (SABS) claims is mandatory. Applicants without this specific experience will not be considered. General legal experience or personal injury experience outside Ontario does not satisfy this requirement.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and maintain Accident Benefits files, ensuring accurate documentation, organization, and timely follow-up.
- Prepare, review, and process SABS-related documentation, including OCF forms, medical requests, insurer correspondence, and supporting records.
- Review incoming correspondence and documentation, identify outstanding requirements, and take appropriate follow-up action.
- Communicate professionally with clients, insurance adjusters, healthcare providers, and other parties involved in claims.
- Conduct regular client update calls, obtain necessary information, and follow up on outstanding documents, appointments, and treatment.
- Request, obtain, and organize medical records, clinical notes, reports, and other supporting documentation.
- Prepare professional correspondence and assist with responses to insurer inquiries and requests.
- Monitor important dates,
deadlines, appointments, and outstanding tasks across multiple files.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date client records and case management systems.
- Identify potential issues, missing information, and inconsistencies in documentation, and bring them to the appropriate team member's attention.
- Independently prioritize daily responsibilities while ensuring assigned tasks are completed accurately and on time.
- Provide additional administrative and legal support as required.
Required Qualifications and Experience
- Minimum two years of direct experience handling Ontario Accident Benefits (SABS) claims — mandatory.
- Previous employment as a Legal Assistant, Law Clerk, or Paralegal in an Ontario personal injury or Accident Advantages practice.
- Strong working knowledge of SABS procedures, OCF forms, insurer requests, and Accident Benefits file administration.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple files, competing priorities, and deadlines with minimal supervision.
- Excellent attention to detail, proofreading skills, and accuracy in document preparation.
- Strong written and verbal English communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Outlook, Word, and Excel.
- Strong organizational skills, sound judgment, and the ability to independently identify and follow up on outstanding matters.
- Ability to handle confidential client information professionally and responsibly.
- Comfortable working independently in a remote workplace while maintaining effective communication with the team.
The Ideal Candidate
We are particularly interested in someone who:
- Takes initiative: Recognizes what needs to be done and follows through without requiring constant reminders.
- Is exceptionally detail-oriented: Thoroughly reviews instructions, documents, and correspondence rather than making assumptions.
- Works independently: Has sufficient Accident Benefits experience to confidently manage assigned tasks without extensive training or supervision.
- Is proactive and resourceful: Identifies problems, investigates missing information, and proposes solutions.
- Is organized and accountable: Manages deadlines effectively and takes responsibility for completing work accurately.
- Communicates effectively: Maintains professional, clear, and timely communication with clients, colleagues, insurers, and healthcare providers.
- Is looking for a long-term chance: Values stability, professional growth, and being part of a collaborative legal team.
Work Arrangement – Fully Remote
This position offers the opportunity to work fully remotely from anywhere in Ontario following initial onboarding.
The successful candidate must be available to attend our Barrie office on several occasions for initial meetings, onboarding, training, and collection of company-provided equipment, including a computer, monitor, and phone.
Following onboarding, the position will be fully remote, with regular communication and collaboration with the Jade Legal team during business hours.
What We Offer
- Full-time, permanent employment with a growing Ontario legal practice.
- Fully remote work arrangement following initial onboarding.
- Competitive salary based on relevant experience and qualifications.
- Monday-to-Friday schedule, 9:00 AM–5:00 PM.
- Overtime pay, when applicable.
- Company-provided computer equipment and work phone.
- A supportive and collaborative qualified environment.
- The opportunity to take ownership of your responsibilities and contribute meaningfully to the firm's operations.
