We're looking for a reliable, organized, and motivated Part-Time Baker & Kitchen Prep Cook to join our team!

This hands-on role combines baking, food preparation, and daily kitchen operations. We're looking for someone who enjoys working with food, takes pride in producing quality products, and can confidently follow recipes while managing their responsibilities independently.

Previous professional baking experience is an asset, but not required. We welcome applicants with strong kitchen experience, a passion for baking, and a willingness to learn.

For the right candidate, there is potential to expand into full-time hours through cross-training as a barista.

Key Responsibilities

Baking & Production

- Prepare and bake café favourites, including cookies, muffins, and scones.
- Prepare baked goods from scratch
- Develop new ideas and recipes
- Accurately measure, mix, portion, and prepare ingredients to ensure consistent quality.
- Manage daily baking requirements to keep products fresh, stocked, and ready for service.
- Maintain consistent product quality, appearance, and presentation.

Food Preparation & Kitchen Operations

- Complete daily food preparation, including washing, chopping, portioning, and preparing ingredients and garnishes.
- Prepare sandwiches, paninis, and other café menu items according to established recipes.
- Stock and replenish ingredients and prepared products for café service.
- Assist with sandwich execution and food preparation during busy periods.
- Follow proper food storage, labeling, rotation, and food safety procedures.

Organization & Inventory

- Independently manage and complete daily prep lists, prioritizing tasks effectively.




- Monitor ingredient inventory, product quantities, and established par levels.
- Communicate proactively with management regarding inventory shortages, prep requirements, and production needs.
- Help minimize food waste through proper portioning, storage, and production planning.
- Maintain an organized, efficient, and well-stocked kitchen.

Cleaning & Food Safety

- Maintain a clean and sanitary kitchen throughout each shift.
- Complete daily cleaning responsibilities, including dishes, equipment, work surfaces, and food preparation areas.
- Follow all food safety, sanitation, and workplace safety procedures.
- Take ownership of maintaining a clean, organized, and safe working environment

Hours

- Morning hours prior to opening of cafe (4am-5am start time)
- Baking/ kitchen prep position is part time hours. There is an option for full-time hours with a barista position

Qualifications & Skills

- Previous experience working in a commercial kitchen, bakery, café, or restaurant.
- Comfortable following recipes accurately and preparing baked goods from scratch.
- Comfortable with creating ideas for items, developing new recipes, and product testing
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage a daily prep list without constant supervision.
- Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to quality and consistency.
- A proactive attitude and willingness to take initiative.
- Dependable, punctual, and able to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Solid communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to safely lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive kitchen tasks.
- Comfortable with moving product up and down stairs
- Food Handler Certification

Pay: $19.00-$23.00 per hour Expected hours: 20.0 – 25.0 per week
