About the opportunity
SIGNUP SIGN is looking for an organized, practical and client-focused person to work closely with the owner and take increasing responsibility for projects.
You will learn how signage is designed, permitted, fabricated and installed, then use that knowledge to manage projects from the initial enquiry through quoting, production, installation and final payment.
This role combines client communication, project coordination, design and hands-on site work. It suits someone who enjoys working with people, takes ownership of tasks and wants to build a long-term career in the signage industry.
How the role develops
You will begin with approximately 70% hands-on site support and 30% client and project coordination, building practical knowledge of our products and processes.
Following probation and a readiness review, the role is expected to move toward 50% site work and 50% project coordination. As you demonstrate the ability to manage projects independently, the longer-term balance is approximately 80% client and project management and 20% site supervision.
Progression will be reviewed against agreed skills and responsibilities.
What you will do
Manage clients and projects
- Respond to enquiries, clarify client requirements and follow up on sales opportunities.
- Coordinate project milestones from quoting through final payment.
- Prepare quotes using company pricing tools and approved guidelines.
- Manage smaller projects and resolve routine issues independently within agreed approval limits.
- Keep clients informed about approvals, schedules, changes and next steps.
- Coordinate suppliers, production staff, installers and other project participants.
- Track artwork approvals, deposits, permit requirements, production dates and installation readiness.
- Coordinate timely invoicing and follow up on outstanding payments.
- Identify delays or problems early and bring practical solutions.
Support design and production
- Use Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop to prepare layouts, proofs and production-ready artwork.
- Check dimensions, specifications and artwork details before production.
- Communicate clearly with English- and Mandarin-speaking clients and suppliers.
- Maintain accurate project records and follow company SOPs.
- Help improve repeatable processes and use company-approved AI tools for updates and documentation.
Learn and support site work
- Assist with site surveys, measurements, deliveries and installations.
- Work outdoors and help with tools, materials and equipment.
- Participate in material handling and lifting using appropriate assistance and equipment.
- Work on ladders and assist with occasional lift-equipment activities following required training and authorization.
- Drive a company pickup truck and travel to project sites.
- As the role develops, supervise site progress, check workmanship and confirm that outstanding items are completed.
What you bring
- Strong spoken and written English.
- Ability to speak Mandarin and read and type Chinese for business communication. Cantonese is not required.
- Practical Adobe Creative Suite experience, particularly Illustrator and Photoshop.
- A portfolio demonstrating relevant design or production-artwork skills.
- Confidence speaking with clients and explaining information clearly.
- Strong organization, attention to detail and reliable follow-through.
- Ability to manage several priorities, track deadlines and take initiative.
- Willingness to work hands-on, learn tools and understand how signs are built and installed.
- Ability to perform the essential site duties safely, with reasonable accommodation where needed.
- A valid driver’s licence suitable for operating a regular company pickup truck.
- Access to a reliable personal vehicle for agreed business travel.
- Availability for occasional overtime and project-related travel.
Experience in signage, printing, project coordination, estimating, construction or a related industry is an asset. We are also interested in candidates with strong transferable skills and a willingness to learn.
Training and support
We will provide practical training in our signage workflow, including permitting, fabrication, installation coordination and relevant design, electrical and structural concepts.
You will gain hands-on experience and work directly with the owner as your responsibilities grow. Regulated work and equipment operation will remain subject to the required qualifications, supervision and authorization.
An office iMac and required design software are provided.
Compensation and growth
- Base salary based on relevant skills and experience.
- KPI bonus tied to responsibilities within your control, including project delivery, quote accuracy, client communication and payment follow-up.
- Applicable overtime compensation.
