705 Handyman

Barrie

Experienced Carpenter – $30–$40/hr – Immediate Start – 3–4 Week ContractLet's cut to the chase!

I'm not looking for a labourer, an apprentice, or someone who needs to be shown how to do everything.

I'm looking for a genuinely skilled carpenter who knows their trade, takes pride in their work, and can be trusted to get the job done right without someone looking over their shoulder.

I've got a century-home repair and restoration project coming up, and I need someone who can hit the ground running.

The position pays $30–$40/hour, starts ASAP, and will last approximately 3–4 weeks.

Maybe you're between jobs. Maybe you've just wrapped up a project and have a few weeks available before the next one.

If you've got the experience and you're looking for a well-paying short-term opportunity, I'd like to hear from you.

ABOUT THE PROJECT

705 Handyman is a small, growing home improvement and property maintenance company serving Barrie and Simcoe County.

We're taking on a repair and restoration project involving an older century home, and I'm looking for an experienced carpenter who can take responsibility for the carpentry work.

This isn't a position where you'll be standing around waiting for instructions.

I need someone who can look at a problem, figure out the best way to approach it, and confidently build or repair what's needed.

Working on an older home means things aren't always straight, level, square, or built the way you'd expect.

You need to be the kind of carpenter who can figure things out when the job isn't straightforward.

WHO I'M LOOKING FOR

Ideally,

you have 5+ years of hands-on carpentry experience and the confidence to work independently.

You should be someone who:

- Has 5+ years of professional carpentry experience
- Can confidently measure, cut, frame, assemble, and build from scratch
- Has experience with structural repairs, framing, and renovation carpentry
- Can assess an existing structure and determine how to properly repair or rebuild it
- Understands proper construction practices and takes pride in quality workmanship
- Can problem-solve when things don't go according to plan
- Has the tools and experience to work efficiently
- Takes initiative instead of waiting to be told what to do
- Is reliable, punctual, and capable of working without supervision

Most importantly, I need someone who genuinely knows what they're doing. I'm not interested in how impressive your resume sounds if you can't back it up on the job.

I'm interested in what you've built, what you've repaired, and whether I can trust you to do quality work independently.

WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT

This is a short-term contract position, not a promise of permanent employment.

You'll be working directly with the owner of 705 Handyman on a century-home restoration project.

In return, you can expect:

- $30–$40/hour, depending on experience and ability

- Approximately 3–4 weeks of work
- Immediate start
- Interesting, challenging carpentry work on an older home
- A small team without unnecessary layers of management
- The independence to use your experience and make decisions
- The opportunity for additional work in the future if it's a good fit

THE NON-NEGOTIABLES
- Proven hands-on experience in skilled carpentry, ideally 5+ years
- Strong framing, structural repair, and general carpentry skills
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Valid driver's licence and reliable transportation
- Own basic carpentry tools
- Comfortable working at heights, including ladders and elevated work areas
- Ability to perform the physical requirements of the job safely
- Available to start immediately or within the next few days

IF THIS SOUNDS LIKE YOU... Don't just send me a generic resume telling me you're a hard worker.

Tell me what kind of carpentry work you've done, how many years you've been doing it, and what you're most confident building or repairing.

If you've worked on older homes, structural repairs, or complicated renovation projects, I'd especially like to hear about it.

If you're an experienced carpenter who's between jobs and looking for 3–4 weeks of solid, well-paying work, this could be a outstanding fit.
