About Hip Haus
Hip Haus is a social club for driven, genuine professionals and entrepreneurs. We bring good people together through thoughtfully run events, conversations, and an active member community. We started out as a networking event for young professionals over 12 years ago growing into one of North America’s largest young professionals networking communities. Now we’re becoming a social club for ambitious professionals and entrepreneurs.
About the role
You will be a key person helping us through the execution phase of launching our membership community and platform. You'll be the person our members know best. You'll plan and host events, welcome new members through the door, keep our online community active, and be the first point of contact when members reach out. This is a role for someone who takes ownership of their work and wants to grow with a company over the long term.
We care about results, not hours at a desk. You'll set much of your own schedule around day to day responsibilities, venue visits, events, and member needs, with flexibility on or after event nights.
What you'll do
- Plan and run member events of 40–100 people in a range of formats, from venue scouting and booking through to hosting on the night.
- Propose new event ideas and formats that bring members together, attract current members, and generate revenue.
- Build relationships with venues, partners, and sponsors.
- Review membership applications and conduct initial interviews.
- Serve as the first point of contact for member questions and requests.
- Manage social media messages, comments, and tags through our customer service platform. (no social media experience required)
- Launch and kick off discussion groups in our member app two to four times a month, and review flagged content to keep the community respectful.
- Find useful ways to improve the member experience during quieter stretches.
- Work directly with the founders to improve the Hip Haus experience, expand offerings and introduce new cities
What we're looking for
- 1–3 years of experience in events, hospitality, private clubs, coworking, or member-facing customer service.
- Social, outgoing and professional
- Comfortable working with a small team
- Comfortable hosting a room and making recent people feel welcome.
- Strong organization and follow-through:
you keep track of the details and close the loop.
- Good judgment with people, and discretion with member information.
- Clear, friendly written communication.
- A reliable vehicle or way to get to venues around the city.
- Availability for evening events, typically 2 per week.
- Someone looking for a long-term role they can grow into.
What we offer
- $47,000–$53,000 base salary, plus annual bonus and commission opportunities.
- A formal compensation review at 12 months.
- Flexible, results-based schedule and remote work.
- Mileage or transit reimbursement for venue visits, a company cell phone, and a laptop if needed.
- Access to Hip Haus events and our member community.
- Two weeks of paid vacation.
How to apply Send your resume and a short note (a few paragraphs is plenty) telling us about an event or experience you organized that you're proud of, and why this role appeals to you.
