Controller & Systems Manager

About the Opportunity

Hams Marketing Services Co-op Inc., a producer-owned co-op headquartered in Headingley, Manitoba, is seeking an experienced, versatile Controller & Systems Manager to join its team.

Reporting directly to the General Manager, this management position is responsible for overseeing the Co-op's financial operations and information systems. The role offers a unique combination of financial management, technology, and administrative responsibilities.

We are looking for a self-motivated professional who enjoys variety, takes initiative, and brings a practical, solutions-oriented approach to their work.

Key Responsibilities

- Oversee accounting operations, financial reporting, and annual audits in accordance with ASPE.
- Manage treasury activities, banking, investments, cash flow, and financial risk.
- Prepare financial analyses and reports to support management decisions.
- Manage business information systems, coordinate external IT service providers, and lead system improvements and reporting initiatives.
- Develop financial and operational reports using SQL and other reporting tools.
- Supervise one employee and oversee payroll, perks, and administrative functions.
- Maintain effective internal controls and ensure regulatory compliance.
- Identify opportunities to improve financial processes, reporting, and business systems.

Qualifications

Required

- Significant accounting and financial management experience.
- Strong knowledge of ASPE and financial reporting.
- Advanced Excel skills and experience with accounting and reporting systems.
- Strong analytical, technical,



and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage diverse responsibilities.

Preferred

- CPA designation or equivalent experience.
- Supervisory or management experience.
- Experience with Sage CRM and Sage 300 ERP.
- Experience with SQL, SQL Server Reporting Services, Crystal Reports.
- Experience with treasury management and business information systems.
- Knowledge of agriculture in Western Canada, especially the hog industry.
