The Ottawa Hospital Auxiliary is looking for a friendly, energetic Customer Service Associate to join our gift shop team. If you love helping people and enjoy working in retail, this is a chance to do work that truly matters. Every sale in our shops supports patients and families at The Ottawa Hospital.

About Us The Ottawa Hospital Auxiliary (TOHA) is a volunteer-led, non-profit organization dedicated to improving the care and comfort of patients and families at The Ottawa Hospital (TOH). Through our retail shops, special events and fundraising, we provide significant financial support for hospital programs, equipment and patient services. TOHA is a separate organization from The Ottawa Hospital, with a shared goal of making a positive difference in our hospital community.

What You Will Do

Customer Service

- Welcome every customer with friendly, efficient and professional service
- Start conversations, answer questions and offer personalized suggestions
- Recommend related products to enhance each customer’s purchase
- Respond promptly to inquiries in person, by phone and by email
- Support and guide our volunteers during their shifts

Inventory and Merchandising

- Receive and unpack merchandise, and check shipments and pricing
- Keep the shop floor fully stocked, tidy and attractive
- Help with quarterly inventory counts

Administrative Tasks

- Enter inventory, pricing and sales data
- Create signs, price tags and simple promotional displays using Microsoft tools
- Communicate with the team using Outlook and Teams
- Help coworkers with basic computer questions

Other Duties





- Deliver purchases to patient rooms when needed
- Keep the shop clean, including dusting, sweeping and removing garbage
- Support the Auxiliary’s service programs
- Other duties as assigned

What You Bring

- Recent retail or customer service experience
- A positive attitude and a genuine passion for helping people
- The ability to work both independently and as part of a team, across TOH campuses
- Positive skills in Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word and Teams

Nice to Have

- Experience with Shopify POS or another inventory management system
- Bilingual in English and French

Full-time, about 37.5 hours per week

Pay

$18.00 to $19.50 per hour

Location

Mainly the Civic Campus, with work at the General Campus as needed. A free inter-campus shuttle is available to staff.
