Job Summary

Lunar Academy Learning Centre is a licensed early learning centre in Chestermere, Alberta. We are seeking a skilled, reliable, and creative Full time Chef/Cook who is confident in designing and preparing healthy, age-appropriate menus for children ages 12 months to 5 years.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys menu creation, understands childhood nutrition, and takes ownership of a daycare kitchen from planning to execution.

Duties

- Design and plan nutritious, balanced menus for children (breakfast, lunch, and afternoon snack)
- Prepare and serve daily meals for children ages 12 months to 5 years
- Ensure menus meet daycare nutrition guidelines and Alberta Health Services standards
- Accommodate dietary restrictions and allergies (halal, vegetarian, etc.)
- Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary kitchen
- Follow all food safety and sanitation regulations
- Complete daily cleaning, temperature, and food safety logs
- Manage food inventory and coordinate ordering needs




- Communicate effectively with daycare management and staf

Qualifications

- Previous experience as a cook or chef (daycare, school, healthcare, or commercial kitchen experience preferred)
- Experience creating menus, preferably for children or group settings
- Food Safety Certification (required or willingness to obtain)
- Strong understanding of child nutrition
- Excellent organization and time-management skills
- Reliable, punctual, and self-directed
- Legally eligible to work in Canada
- Vulnerable Sector Check (or willingness to obtain)
