Job Summary

Under the general supervision of the Environmental Services Manager, the Lead Hand contributes to the supervision and operations of the Dietary Department. This is a working lead hand position, and is responsible for filling in Cook/DA shifts when needed. This individual is responsible for the planning of menus and the supervision of food service operations in the hospital and Extended Care Wing; they are accountable for the provision and maintenance of high standards in food purchasing, production, quality of food preparation and service.



The Lead Hand must have knowledge of nutrition and experience in the quantity preparation of food. The Lead Hand ensures that all employees work within established regulations, policies and procedures with regards to health and safety, the environment and quality.

Requirements

- Completion of Ontario Secondary School Diploma or equivalent
- Completion of Food Service Worker Program

- Certified Safe Food Handling
- Five years experience in institutional food service
- Ability to lift 21kg or 50lbs
- Membership to the Canadian Society of Nutrition Management is an asset
- Completion of food service and nutrition management course through the Canadian Hospital Association is an asset
- Successful completion of chef training or culinary management diploma from a program that meets the standard established by the Ontario Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities or equivalent is an asset
