Title: Director of Finance

Role: Full-Time, Permanent

Reports to: CFO

Application Deadline: December 1, 2026

Who We Are

Other.™ is raising the bar in the North American advertising industry, setting a new standard for measurable impact, transparency, and accountability, for both our team and the clients we partner with.

We're a privately owned, Toronto-based team of about 50, led by a small Leadership Team. Our work runs on Propel™, our proprietary operating methodology, and PerformanceLock™, our outcome-linked compensation model, so clients get a system that's been refined across hundreds of engagements rather than a team starting from scratch on every account.

Our growth speaks for itself: we've been named to The Globe & Mail's list of Canada's Top Growing Companies for three consecutive years, and to the Financial Times' The Americas' Fastest Growing Companies 2026 list. This role sits right at the center of what's next: we're bringing Planning and Performance together into one integrated function for the first time, and this hire is who builds it.

Our headquarters is in Toronto's Financial District, steps from Union Station, with a second office steps from Parliament Hill in Ottawa. We operate as a hybrid team, with no in-office mandate.

What You’d Be Up To

As Director of Finance, you’ll play a critical role in shaping the financial health, operational efficiency, and multi-entity growth of the company. You’ll serve as the primary in-house financial anchor, balancing direct oversight of day-to-day operations across our Canadian and US entities with strategic partnership at the executive level, ensuring we’re running with financial precision today and set up to scale cleanly tomorrow.

Who You’ll Lead & Work With

- Reporting to: Chief Financial Officer
- Direct Reports & Vendor Oversight: Direct management of in-house finance operations across Canadian and US entities, with direct oversight and day-to-day operational leadership of fractional resources, including a fractional Controller and a fractional Bookkeeper.

Responsibilities

- Serve as the primary in-house owner for the overall accuracy, integrity, and timeliness of company financials across Canadian and US entities, ensuring books are tight, consolidated, and audit-ready at all times.
- Lead and manage external fractional partners (Controller and Bookkeeper),

establishing clear SLAs, review protocols, and quality control for monthly close cycles.
- Maintain strict internal controls and governance over month-end close, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and reconciliations managed by fractional partners.
- Partner with the fractional Controller and external tax advisors to ensure full compliance with Canadian and US federal, state/provincial tax, audit, and regulatory requirements.

US Operations, Cross-Border & Intercompany Management

- Structure and manage scalable financial operations, banking infrastructure, and accounting workflows for our US corporation.
- Oversee intercompany accounting, transfer pricing compliance, and intercompany agreements to ensure clean multi-entity consolidation and regulatory alignment.
- Coordinate cross-border tax strategy, corporate filings, and state-level compliance (e.g., state sales tax, state income tax, nexus considerations) with specialized external advisors.

Treasury, Cash & Foreign Exchange Management

- Own consolidated liquidity visibility across CAD and USD accounts; build and maintain rolling 13-week cash flow models to drive proactive cash planning and inform CFO decision-making.
- Operationalize treasury management strategies established by the CFO while ensuring seamless working capital across entities.
- Monitor FX risk across multi-currency revenue and expense streams; execute CFO-approved hedging strategies, forward contracts, and intercompany currency transfers to protect against volatility.
- Manage day-to-day banking workflows, user access, account administration, and credit line monitoring across Canadian and US financial institutions.

Systems, Process Improvement & Vendor Management

- Evaluate, implement and optimize the finance tech stack
- Identify and execute automation and system integrations to streamline financial workflows, accelerate month-end closes, and eliminate manual reporting errors across entities.

- Manage relationships and service agreements with software providers and external financial vendors in both regions.

Strategic FP&A;, Commercial Insight & Executive Advisory

- Partner directly with the CFO on consolidated budgeting, multi-year forecasting, and strategic capital allocation across business units.
- Analyze agency-specific metrics—including client profitability, billable realization rates, and team utilization—to advise leadership on pricing structures and resource planning.
- Build energetic models to evaluate new business scenarios, US expansion initiatives, and service lines.

Who This Role is For

- Education & Credentials: CPA designation or equivalent financial/accounting qualification required.
- Experience: 8+ years of progressive experience in finance and accounting, with leadership responsibility.
- Industry Experience: Experience in advertising, marketing services, or professional services agencies (managing billable rates, project profitability, and client retainers) strongly preferred.

- Technical Mastery: Strong knowledge of GAAP/IFRS, experience managing cash flow modeling, and experience selecting & implementing financial tech into an organization.
- Core Competencies: Strong analytical skills, high ownership, meticulous attention to financial detail, and exceptional collaboration skills across executive leadership teams.
