Compost Winnipeg seeks an independent and responsible individual to work as a compost collection driver. Compost Winnipeg is a social enterprise of the Green Action Centre.

Hours: 32 hours / week.

Starting Wage: $21 per hour. Health spending account available after 3 months of employment.

PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:

Compost Winnipeg is an environmentally driven social enterprise. Our mission is to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and keep food waste out of the landfill by providing food waste collection service to Winnipeg residents and businesses. Profits generated by Compost Winnipeg support Green Action Centre’s environmental education and waste reduction programs.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Safely and efficiently operate a collection truck on scheduled routes
- Pick-up, weigh and track food waste as it is collected
- Transport food waste to composting facilities
- Clean and maintain compost bins
- Actively participate in our efforts to maintain a safe and positive work environment
- Regularly communicate and participate in logistics planning with the Compost Winnipeg staff
- Conduct daily vehicle inspections of collection trucks
- Other duties, as assigned

Key Qualifications: Must be reliable and able to work without close supervision. Key qualifications include:

- Class 5 drivers license
- 2 years professional driving experience
- A safe driving record,



with a drivers abstract demonstrating little to no infractions
- Organized, punctual, responsible and self-disciplined
- Good communication and customer service skills
- Able to work well with others and independently
- Able to consistently and safely lift 25 kg
- Able to consistently and safely roll bins that weigh up to 120 kg
- Available for weekend shifts and statutory holidays
- Knowledge of composting or willingness to learn.

Desired Assets:

- Commercial driving experience and/or training
- Vehicle maintenance experience, or any other trades experience
