Drum Instructor / Drum Teacher – Beginner to Advanced

Blue Moon Academy of Music and Arts is seeking a passionate, skilled, and reliable Drum Instructor to join our growing team at our North York location.

We are looking for an educator with a strong foundation in drumming technique, rhythm, music theory, and teaching methods. The ideal candidate enjoys working with students of different ages and abilities, from young beginners discovering music to advanced players developing their technique and performance skills.

Key Responsibilities

- Teach private drum lessons to children, teens, and adults at beginner, intermediate, and advanced levels
- Develop students’ technique, timing, coordination, musicality, and performance skills
- Teach drum notation, rhythm reading, and relevant music theory
- Introduce students to a variety of musical styles and help them develop their listening and ensemble skills
- Create personalized lesson plans that reflect each student’s goals, interests, and learning style
- Help students establish effective practice habits and provide clear feedback on their progress
- Prepare students for performances, recitals, auditions, or other musical goals, when applicable
- Communicate professionally with students, parents, and academy staff
- Maintain a consistent weekly schedule, punctuality, and accurate attendance records

Qualifications and Requirements





- Strong drumming skills and a solid understanding of technique, rhythm, and music theory
- At least two years of teaching experience in a private or music school setting; three or more years preferred
- Experience working with children and adapting lessons to different ages and learning needs
- Ability to teach students from beginner through advanced levels
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- A patient, encouraging, creative, and professional approach
- Ability to commit to a consistent weekly teaching schedule
- A degree or diploma in Music or Music Education is preferred
- Performance and recording experience are assets

Schedule Part-time, weekday evenings and/or weekends. Teaching days will be arranged based on instructor availability and student demand.
