Job Summary

Stars Montessori Academy & Out of School Care is seeking a responsible, caring, and reliable Early Childhood Educator and School Bus Driver to join our team.

The successful candidate will support children's learning and development by preparing classroom activities, maintaining attendance records, assisting with daily routines, and safely transporting children to and from school, childcare programs, and field trips.

We are looking for someone who enjoys working with children, prioritizes safety, and contributes positively to a welcoming, inclusive, and supportive learning environment.

Key Responsibilities Early Childhood Educator Duties

- Prepare and organize age-appropriate classroom activities, learning materials, and educational experiences.
- Take and accurately record children's daily attendance.
- Support children's learning and development through play-based, Montessori-inspired, and hands-on activities.
- Assist with classroom routines, transitions, and daily program schedules.
- Supervise children during indoor and outdoor activities, ensuring their safety and well-being.
- Support children's social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development.
- Maintain a clean, organized, safe, and inclusive classroom environment.
- Communicate professionally and respectfully with parents, colleagues, and program management.
- Follow childcare licensing requirements, health and safety procedures, and program policies.





School Bus Driver Duties
- Safely operate a school bus or designated childcare transportation vehicle on scheduled routes and field trips.
- Pick up and drop off children at designated schools, homes, and approved locations.
- Ensure children are safely supervised during boarding, transportation, and drop-off.
- Complete daily vehicle safety inspections and maintain vehicle cleanliness.
- Follow applicable traffic laws, transportation safety requirements, and company policies.
- Maintain accurate transportation attendance records and ensure every child is accounted for during pickup and drop-off.
- Communicate transportation concerns, delays, incidents, or safety issues promptly to management.
- Assist with transportation for field trips, school breaks, and summer programs as required.

Qualifications
- Valid Alberta Class 4 driver's licence and any additional credentials required for the assigned vehicle.
- Early Childhood Educator certification of Level 1 or higher.
- Clean driver's abstract.
- Ability to provide the required criminal record check, including a vulnerable sector check where applicable.
- Current CPR and First Aid certification is an asset.
- Previous experience in childcare, early learning, or school transportation is an asset.

- Reliable, punctual, patient, and professional.
- A genuine interest in working with children and supporting their safety and development.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.

Work Schedule
- Full-time position with split shifts for morning and afternoon school transportation.
- Typical schedule may fall within a daily window of approximately 7:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., depending on operational needs.
- Additional hours may be available for classroom programming, field trips, professional development days, school breaks, and summer programs.
