Overview The primary purpose of the Educational Assistant – Inclusive Education Support (EA_IES) is to support students with diverse learning needs and exceptionalities in accessing and participating fully in their educational program and the broader school community.

Under the direction and supervision of the classroom teacher and school administration, the EA-IES provides individualized, small-group, and classroom support to help students develop academic, social, emotional, behavioural, communication, and life skills.

Duties & Responsibilities

Program and Student Support

- Provide individualized support to students with exceptionalities and diverse learning needs, as directed by the classroom teacher and/or educational team.
- Assist students in accessing and participating in classroom learning, social activities, routines, and school-wide activities.
- Implement accommodations, adaptations, and established support strategies identified by the student's educational team.
- Provide support with communication, social-emotional development, self-regulation, transitions, and daily routines as appropriate to the student's individual needs.
- Reinforce instructional strategies and learning goals established by the classroom teacher.
- Support students in developing independence, confidence, self-advocacy, and positive relationships with peers and staff.
- Observe and document relevant student progress, behaviours, and areas of concern and communicate observations to the supervising teacher.
- Work collaboratively with teachers, administration,



Indigenous support staff, and other members of the student's support team.
- Maintain student dignity, privacy, confidentiality, and respect when providing individualized support.
- Recognize that each student's needs are unique and adjust support appropriately under the direction of the classroom teacher and educational team.
- All other duties as required.

Ideal Qualifications & Experience

- High school diploma. Preference for a post-secondary diploma.
- Inclusive Education Assistant certificate, Education Assistant/Early Childhood Education certification, or a minimum of two years of experience with primary and pre-kindergarten children in a learning environment.
- Must provide a satisfactory criminal record check with the vulnerable sector.
- Valid Food Safe certification is an asset.
- Experience working in a school environment is an asset

Ideal Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

- A basic understanding of the First Nations community, including its history, language, traditions, and culture, is an asset.
- Ability to relate to students and adapt to the classroom environment.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team and successfully interact with a diverse range of personality types.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Must possess a high level of moral judgement for handling confidential information.

Work Conditions

- Work is performed primarily at school, with hours set as 8:00-3:30, Monday through Thursday and 8:00-12:00 Fridays.
- Travel may be required within the SFN community and the surrounding community.
- Manual dexterity is required to use a desktop computer and peripherals.
- Wage Range: $26.23-$29.81/Hr

Pay: $26.23-$29.81 per hour Expected hours: 32.0 per week
