We are hiring an Estimator!

Are you a precision-driven professional with a passion for aerospace manufacturing and cost optimization? We are looking for a full-time Estimator to join our team. Working within our Estimation department and reporting directly to the General Manager, you will collaborate closely with Engineering, Production, Finance, and external clients to prepare accurate cost estimates and support competitive customer proposals.

Your role will be responsible for:

- Developing cost estimates: Formulate detailed and accurate cost estimates for commercial and defense aerospace Sheet Metal & Machining work packages, covering materials, manufacturing labor, operations, tooling, and non-recurring costs.
- Supporting customer proposals: Interpret RFPs/RFQs, define product features and scope, and collaborate with Engineering on product concepts, renderings, and tool designs to build comprehensive bids.
- Establishing scoping assumptions: Define reasonable estimating assumptions and project scope independently when customer requirements or RFPs are incomplete.
- Analyzing historical data: Research and evaluate historical data to justify cost estimates, establish baseline metrics, and build reliable pricing models and cost projections.
- Maintaining estimating tools: Partner with the Finance department to develop, maintain, and continuously improve pricing models, cost-estimating software tools, and internal databases.
- Interpreting product requirements: Collaborate with Engineering to evaluate Statements of Work (SOW) and Bills of Materials (BOM) to identify key cost drivers and operational impacts.
- Evaluating production workflows: Work hand-in-hand with Manufacturing to understand shop-floor production processes, material utilization efficiencies,

and exact labor requirements.
- Advising senior management: Present finalized cost estimates, strategic recommendations, and financial risk assessments to senior leadership to guide critical pricing decisions.
- Driving design-for-cost initiatives: Support Engineering and Operations by providing proactive Design-for-Cost (DFC) and Design-for-Manufacturability (DFM) structural recommendations.

What you need to succeed in this role:
- Experience: 3 to 7 years of related cost-estimating experience within a fast-paced Manufacturing environment (aerospace, aluminum sheet metal, engineering and machining experience is heavily preferred).
- Technical blueprint reading: Strong ability to read complex technical models and engineering drawings to accurately identify structural material call-outs.
- Software expertise: Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (advanced Excel spreadsheet and reporting functions are required) alongside experience interacting with database systems.
- Systems knowledge: Solid understanding of Bill of Material (BOM) structures, cost accounting principles, and manufacturing ERP systems.
- Manufacturing aptitude: Strong mathematical and mechanical aptitude, including an understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerance (GD&T;) and how it impacts manufacturability.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree (BA/BS)

or a relevant Engineering degree; or an equivalent combined ratio of education and hands-on experience.
- Core strengths:
- Self-directed worker capable of making independent, substantiated decisions while delivering accurate, competitive bids under tight customer and management deadlines.
- Strong analytical skills paired with a tactical mindset to monitor estimate performance and optimize future estimating methodologies.
- Excellent problem-solving abilities, particularly relevant in navigating incomplete RFQ requirements and managing customer concerns.
- Outstanding organizational time management skills, multi-tasking capabilities, and strong verbal and written interpersonal communication skills.

Why Join Us?
- Collaborative culture: Work with a cross-functional team dedicated to continuous improvement and manufacturing excellence.
- Health & dental: Access to our employer-shared extended health and dental care perks.
- Team milestones: Enjoy fun company-sponsored social events, including our summer barbecues and annual Christmas party.
- Easy commute: Free on-site parking available for all employees.
