Job Purpose

SMS teachers bring a high level of knowledge and expertise to their teaching disciplines and serve as effective, engaging, and competent facilitators of the educational process. Above all, our teachers are dedicated educators who are committed to supporting the academic, social, and emotional development of each child. They are also expected to be collaborative, supportive, and contributing members of the broader school community.

Position Accountabilities The successful candidate will be expected to:

- Deliver teaching practices that align with the mission, vision, and curriculum guidelines of SMS.
- Be a positive, supportive, and contributing member of the SMS community, both offering and receiving constructive feedback.
- Serve as a positive role model for students, colleagues, and other members of the school community.
- Establish and maintain effective, respectful communication with parents.
- Develop and maintain the technological skills necessary to work effectively within an e-school environment.
- Understand, uphold, and support the school’s Code of Conduct.

At SMS,



the teacher's primary role is to guide each child’s natural curiosity and energy while providing a program that supports the individual social, emotional, and academic needs of every student. Skills, Qualifications, and Competencies The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications and attributes:
- Post-secondary education, with Montessori training from a MACTE-accredited program preferred or Bed.
- Teacher education training. ECE/RECE certification is required for Ministry-licensed programs serving children from 2 and a half years to 6 years of age.
- Appropriate academic credentials demonstrating a strong knowledge of and expertise in their teaching discipline.
- Previous teaching experience in another setting, such as a university, college, or specialized instructional area (e.g., music or athletics), is considered an asset.
- Solid technological aptitude and a willingness to learn current systems.
- A commitment to integrity, professionalism, and trust.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Flexibility, adaptability, and strong self-management skills.

Workplace Requirements and Conditions Location: Sunshine Montessori School, 10 Boniface Avenue, Kitchener, ON N2C 1L9

The school day includes academic and extracurricular periods, with the workday beginning at approximately 8:00 a.m.

Pay: $17.60-$43.16 per hour
