Job Overview

Cambridge International Academy is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic French Teacher / Elementary Teaching Assistant to join our elementary teaching team.

This is a combined role involving French language instruction for elementary students and classroom support for homeroom teachers throughout the school day.

The ideal candidate will have strong French language skills, experience working with elementary students, excellent classroom management abilities, and a genuine passion for education.

Key Responsibilities

French Teaching Responsibilities

- Plan and deliver engaging French lessons for students in Grades 1–8, following Ontario curriculum expectations.
- Develop students' French speaking, listening, reading, and writing skills.
- Create interactive and age-appropriate French learning activities.
- Assess student progress and provide constructive feedback.
- Adapt teaching strategies to accommodate different learning abilities and language proficiency levels.

Elementary Teaching Assistant Responsibilities

- Assist homeroom teachers with daily classroom instruction and activities.
- Provide individual and small-group academic support.
- Help prepare teaching materials, assignments, and classroom resources.




- Support classroom management and encourage positive student behaviour.
- Supervise students during recess, lunch, transitions, and other assigned activities.
- Assist with school events, enrichment programs, and extracurricular activities.
- Work collaboratively with teachers and school administration to support student development.

Qualifications

Required:

- Solid proficiency in both French and English.
- Bachelor's degree in Education, French, Languages, or a related field.
- Experience teaching or working with elementary-aged children.
- Strong communication, organization, and classroom management skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- Patience, flexibility, professionalism, and enthusiasm for teaching.

Preferred:

- Ontario College of Teachers (OCT) certification.
- Previous experience teaching elementary French.
- Familiarity with the Ontario elementary curriculum.
- Experience in a private school or individualized learning environment.

Compensation and Benefits Hourly Rate: CA$21.00–CA$30.00, depending on qualifications and experience.
