Job Summary Love big machines, fresh snow, and the idea of shaping the mountain? Mount Washington is looking for Cat Operators to keep our slopes in top condition. You’ll be behind the controls of powerful snow cats, grooming trails, moving snow, and sometimes even building terrain park features. Every shift brings a new challenge—recovering a machine, pushing through a storm, or laying down perfect corduroy for the morning crowd.

This is hands-on, outdoorsy work in a unique team environment. If you’re reliable,

safety-minded, and like the idea of working nights so your days are free to ski or ride, this is the gig for you. Heavy machinery experience is great, but we’ll train the right mountain-minded person!

Key Responsibilities:

- Ensure the safe and efficient use of machinery and equipment including snow cats and implements
- Work alongside the Terrain Park crew assisting with building, shaping, and maintaining terrain park features when required.
- Keep a clean, organized, and protected work environment
- Monitor snow conditions and help move snow to maintain safe, consistent coverage on trails.
- Assist in maintaining the cleanliness of snow cats and other work areas
- Use radios to coordinate with other operators, patrol, and mountain operations teams.
- Identify and communicate maintenance requirements of machines, equipment, workplaces and guests’ areas
- Produce the final groomed product as directed
- Work in a guest service environment and always appear professional
- Comply with all Resort policies and procedures
- Complete other duties as required.

Qualifications:

- Experience with heavy machinery; grooming experience is an asset, as is proficiency with blade and tiller operations
- Comfortable working solo on overnight shifts, but also able to collaborate with a team.

- Basic knowledge of machine maintenance and troubleshooting
- Understanding of ski area operations and trail systems is an asset
- Strong commitment to safety practices for self, coworkers, and guests
- Reliable, punctual, and able to adapt to changing weather and snow conditions
- Able to read instruments and identify warnings, obstacles and hazards
- Have a valid driver’s license with appropriate class ratings
- Must be able to work nights, weekends and holidays in all weather conditions, lift heavy objects, and be in a seated position for an entire shift

Resort Conditions Working at a Winter Resort means no two days are the same—and that's part of the adventure! You’ll get to experience a variety of unique locations, from cozy lodges to scenic mountain-top venues only accessible by chairlift. Be prepared to embrace the elements; whether it's bluebird skies, fresh snowfall, or the infamous coastal rain.

Expect to navigate multi-level lodges, steep stairways, and outdoor areas where the terrain can be sloped, snowy, or slippery, so good footwear is essential, indoors and out. Walking through large, icy parking lots is also part of the daily journey. If you love fresh air, stunning views, and a workplace that keeps you on your toes, this is the spot for you!

How to Apply: Please submit your resume and a cover letter detailing your relevant experience and why you would be a great fit for the position at Mt. Washington Alpine Resort.

Mt. Washington is an equal chance employer. We celebrate diversity and are committed to creating an inclusive environment for all employees.
