Hiring Summary – Heavy-Duty Mechanic (Field Service)

We are seeking a qualified and experienced Heavy-Duty Mechanic to operate a fully equipped service truck and perform maintenance, troubleshooting, and mechanical repairs on mobile equipment in the field. This position will primarily support mining and forestry operations, requiring the ability to work independently, respond to equipment breakdowns, and minimize equipment downtime in demanding operating environments.

The successful candidate will have strong diagnostic and mechanical skills, experience working on heavy equipment, and the ability to perform repairs safely and efficiently in remote or challenging field conditions. Responsibilities will include conducting preventative maintenance, diagnosing mechanical and hydraulic issues, completing emergency repairs, and maintaining accurate service records.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate a strong work ethic, sound decision-making, excellent problem-solving abilities, and a commitment to workplace safety. The ability to manage service calls, prioritize repairs, communicate effectively with operators and supervisors, and maintain the service truck, tools, and equipment will be essential to success in this role.

Key Responsibilities:

- Operate a field service truck to perform on-site repairs and maintenance.
- Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and pneumatic systems.
- Perform maintenance and repairs on mining and forestry equipment, including excavators, dozers, loaders,



haul trucks, skidders, feller bunchers, and other heavy mobile equipment.
- Respond to equipment breakdowns and emergency service calls to minimize downtime.
- Complete preventative maintenance inspections and identify potential equipment issues.
- Maintain accurate service reports, work orders, and records of parts and labour.
- Ensure the service truck, tools, and equipment are maintained in safe working condition.
- Follow all applicable safety procedures, company policies, and industry standards.
- Communicate equipment conditions, repair requirements, and recommendations to supervisors and equipment operators.

Qualifications and Requirements:

- Journeyperson Heavy-Duty Equipment Technician certification or equivalent qualifications.
- Experience diagnosing and repairing heavy mobile equipment.
- Previous field service or service truck experience is considered an asset.
- Strong knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulic systems, electrical systems, drivetrains, and heavy equipment components.
- Valid driver's licence and an acceptable driving record.
- Ability to work independently, manage priorities, and perform repairs in demanding field conditions.
- Strong commitment to safety, reliability, and quality workmanship.

Pay: $45.32-$54.56 per hour Expected hours: 40.0 – 60.0 per week
