The Opportunity
We are looking for a Heavy Equipment Service Technician to join our Edmonton Service Department. This is a great opportunity for a skilled technician who enjoys variety, troubleshooting and working on equipment that is a little different from what you might see in a traditional automotive or heavy equipment shop.
We are ideally looking for a Journeyperson Technician, but will consider a 2nd-year Apprentice or higher with relevant mechanical experience and a desire to continue developing their technical skills.
Reporting to the Branch Service Manager and Shop Foreman, you will perform diagnostics, maintenance and repairs on a diverse range of commercial turf, utility and specialized equipment, both in our Edmonton shop and occasionally at customer locations.

- Diagnose mechanical, electrical and hydraulic faults and determine appropriate repairs.
- Perform inspections, preventative maintenance and repairs on a variety of equipment.
- Repair or replace defective parts, components and systems using appropriate hand and power tools.
- Install accessories, attachments and optional equipment.
- Service attachments and working tools.
- Test repaired equipment to confirm proper operation and ensure work meets manufacturer specifications.
- Complete repairs accurately and efficiently while maintaining a high standard of workmanship.
- Perform field service at customer locations when required.
- Participate in manufacturer training, technical training and certification programs as opportunities arise.
- Work collaboratively with the service team while also being comfortable working independently.
What You’ll Bring
- Journeyperson certification in Heavy Equipment mechanical trade is preferred.
- 2nd-year Apprentice or higher candidates with relevant mechanical experience will also be considered.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and diagnostic skills.
- Experience troubleshooting mechanical, electrical and hydraulic systems is an asset.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to manage priorities and work effectively in a busy service environment.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
- Positive communication and organizational skills.
- Your own basic hand tools and toolbox. Oakcreek provides job-specific and specialty shop tools.
- Valid Class 5 driver’s licence with a satisfactory driving record.
- Ability to travel occasionally within Canada and internationally for manufacturer training and certification programs. Where international travel is required,
the successful candidate must be able to obtain and maintain the necessary travel documentation and be eligible for entry into the destination country.
- A satisfactory Police Information Check may be required as a condition of employment.
Why Oakcreek? At Oakcreek, we believe good people are the foundation of a strong business. Many members of our team have built long careers with us, and we’re proud to provide an environment where employees can develop their skills and take on new challenges.
