Job Summary

Steeltex Manufacturing Inc. is hiring an Experienced Plate Roll Operator/Brake Operator to join our team in Edmonton, AB. This is a full time position with a 40-hour work week and an hourly pay rate of $28 - $33 based on experience. We are looking for a candidate with a minimum of 3 years experience in plate rolling and brake forming. Candidate must have a background in fabrication, material handling, forming, tack welding, rigging, and layouts.

Responsibilities for this role include operating plate rolls and manual press brake to bend plate into shells, arcs, cylinders, and cones etc.; operating the overhead cranes; and ensuring the correct application of specifications and tolerances. Candidate will need to be able to interpret documents, drawings, and instructions in written, oral, or drawing form. Also being able to apply basic algebra and geometry is critical as well as reading a tape measure.

Other responsibilities for this position include ensuring daily, weekly, and monthly checks are performed on any equipment you are assigned to prior to using it. Shop employees are required to perform multiple different tasks. Their individual specialization is based on aptitude and performance, though they may still be required to operate other machinery or perform additional tasks as required, so an ability to multi-task and remain highly organized is very valuable in any candidate for the job.

Applicant must have some manual dexterity, and be capable of sitting, standing, and walking for extended periods of time. Climbing ladders, kneeling, crouching, bending, crawling,



and lifting up to 50 lbs are also required activities.

Please Note: This is NOT a welding or machining position The successful candidate must be physically fit, bond-able, punctual, and have a positive attitude.

Duties

- Operate plate rolling machines and Manual Press Brake to bend metal plates, into arcs, cylinders, or cones, etc. using blueprints, templates, and knowledge of geometry and physical properties of metal to set up machine and plan sequence of operations.
- Operate Overhead crane, to lift, move, and position loads for forming and loading onto trucks for shipping.
- Being able to read and interpret drawings, sketches, and/or blueprints.
- Ensure daily, weekly and monthly checks are up to date on any equipment you are assigned to prior to energizing or operating it.
- Ensure any equipment you are assigned to operate is clean at the start and end of your task or shift.
- Ensure completion of any maintenance tasks assigned such as lubrication, oil level checks, and other as required.
- Immediately report any defective equipment or safety condition to a supervisor including those which are quickly and easily corrected.
- Perform additional assignments as per required.
