Principal Flight Controls Engineer

Greater Montreal, QC | Hybrid (3 days onsite) | Full time Permanent position

Job Summary

Fly-by-wire aircraft rely on their control laws to fly safely and handle well. In this role, you're the expert who designs them.

As a principal engineer, you'll own flight control law design from requirements through simulation, piloted testing and flight test. You'll split your time between production programs and R&D;, working across control laws, autopilot and navigation.

If you have deep fly-by-wire expertise and want to be the technical authority others turn to, this is your role.

What you'll do

- Design, develop and refine flight control laws and the tools used to assess them

- Push R&D; forward on control laws, autopilot and navigation

- Write control law and system requirements, and lead their verification and validation

- Design pilot-in-the-loop control laws around handling qualities, envelope protection, performance and test pilot feedback

- Put designs through analysis, desktop simulation, piloted simulator testing and flight test data review

- Deliver control laws to aerospace software and systems development standards

- Bring control laws to life on test rigs and partner hardware

What you bring





- Bachelor's or master's in aerospace engineering; PhD preferred

- 10+ years developing flight control laws for fly-by-wire aircraft

- Deep understanding of flight dynamics, aerodynamics, stability and handling qualities

- Expertise in classical and modern control design for single- and multi-variable systems

- Strong grasp of linear and non-linear evaluation techniques and test procedures

- Knowledge of state estimation and filtering

- Advanced skills in industry-standard modeling, simulation and programming tools

- Familiarity with certification of complex airborne software

- Fluent in French and English, written and spoken
