Position: Program Manager, Women’s Leadership and Development
Hours: Full time- 35 hrs per week
Location: Hybrid: In-person at our Vancouver office and virtual
Compensation: $61,000 - $65,500
We are looking for a Program Manager who is a people leader first and a builder at heart. You will lead a small, committed team, shape and grow WLD programming, and turn what participants experience every day into change in the systems around them.
This role is for you if you want to stay connected to the people your work serves while also influencing policy, funding and the future direction of a program area. You will join a collaborative management team where peers support each other and decisions are made together.
Pacific Immigrant Resources Society (PIRS) is a community-based, non-profit organization serving immigrant and refugee women and their young children since 1975. PIRS delivers accessible, inclusive, low-barrier programs for immigrant and refugee women and their children that create a sense of belonging, meaningful participation and leadership.
The purpose of the Program Manager position is to manage all aspects of the Women Leadership and Development programs at PIRS https://pirs.bc.ca/womens-leadership-and-training/
What you’ll do
- Lead and develop people. Coach, support and grow a small team, plus volunteers and contracted facilitators (where applicable). Build a team where people feel safe to speak up, share ideas and take ownership.
- Design and deliver programs. Bring new program ideas to life, from logic models and outcomes to curriculum, timelines and evaluation, and use what you learn to keep improving.
- Manage budgets and funding. Cost programs, manage budgets and funder reporting, and work closely with our Development Manager so grant applications reflect strong program design.
- Connect direct service to systems change.
Stay close to participants and frontline work, turn the barriers women face into evidence for policy and advocacy, and build partnerships that grow WLD's reach and impact.
What you bring to the role
- Experience leading and developing people, including hiring, coaching and performance conversations
- Experience managing non-profit programs, ideally with immigrant and/or refugee women and families
- Grounding in direct service work, and an understanding of how it connects to systems change and advocacy
- Program development skills: logic models, outcomes, evaluation frameworks and planning
- Confidence building and managing program budgets, including government-funded contracts and reporting
- An entrepreneurial approach: you see opportunities and turn ideas into workable, funded programs
- Self-awareness and emotional intelligence, including knowing when your confidence serves a situation and when to step back so others can lead
- A collaborative approach with your team, your peers and leadership
- Understanding of trauma-informed practice, gender equity, anti-racism and the intersecting barriers newcomer women face
- Solid written and verbal communication skills
- A bachelor's degree in a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Attitudes and values aligned with the goals and philosophy of PIRS
Application Details Please send a cover letter and resume as a single PDF file.
