Sterling Industries is hiring a Pump Rebuild Technician / Millwright for our Blackfalds shop. This is a shop-based position focused on inspecting, repairing, rebuilding and testing pumps and related rotating equipment.

We are looking for someone who enjoys understanding how equipment works, identifying why it failed and putting it back together properly. Accurate measurements, organized work and quality workmanship matter here.

We welcome applications from registered second-year through fourth-year millwright apprentices and certified journeyman millwrights. Responsibilities and supervision will reflect your experience and demonstrated ability.

What you’ll do

- Dismantle pumps and document their condition, wear and damage.
- Inspect shafts, bearings, mechanical seals, impellers, wear rings, casings and related components.
- Measure dimensions, fits, clearances and runout using precision measuring tools.
- Compare inspection findings with OEM specifications or approved repair requirements.
- Help identify failure causes and recommend components for repair, replacement or reuse.
- Rebuild pumps using approved procedures and complete required assembly checks.
- Coordinate parts, machining and repair requirements with the Shop Foreman.
- Assist with testing and prepare completed equipment for return to the customer.
- Record labour, inspection findings, parts usage and job notes.
- Maintain a clean, organized and safe work area.

What you bring

- Registration as a second-, third- or fourth-year Industrial Mechanic (Millwright) apprentice, or journeyman certification.
- Knowledge of stationary and rotating equipment appropriate to your trade level.
- Ability to use precision measuring tools and accurately record results.
- Ability to follow technical instructions,



drawings and safe work procedures.
- Basic computer skills, including Excel and digital work records.
- Reliable attendance, clear communication and a willingness to learn.
- Pride in your workmanship and the ability to take ownership of your work.

Experience that would be an asset

- Hands-on pump repair, overhaul or rebuilding.
- Experience with vertical turbine, horizontal split-case, end-suction, multistage or positive-displacement pumps.
- Bearing and mechanical seal installation.
- Understanding of fits, clearances, alignment and equipment failure analysis.
- Experience with machining shops, pump testing, power generation or other industrial rotating equipment.
