Job Overview

Optimal Electric is seeking a motivated, reliable, and experienced Journeyman Electrician to join our growing team. We work primarily in residential as well as commercial settings, completing renovations, new builds, service upgrades, troubleshooting, and a variety of other electrical projects.

Responsibilities

- Independently perform electrical installations, renovations, new construction, service upgrades, troubleshooting, and repairs in residential and commercial settings.
- Read and interpret electrical drawings, blueprints, and specifications.
- Ensure all electrical installations meet the Canadian Electrical Code and applicable Manitoba regulations.
- Diagnose electrical issues and provide effective, practical solutions.
- Safely and efficiently operate hand tools,



power tools, and electrical testing equipment.
- Maintain clean, safe, and organized job sites.
- Work independently or alongside other electricians and apprentices to complete projects efficiently.
- Provide guidance and supervision to apprentices when required.
- Communicate professionally with customers, contractors, and other trades.
- Maintain a high standard of workmanship and attention to detail.
- Perform physically demanding work, including working at heights, in confined spaces, and lifting heavy materials.

Requirements
- Valid Manitoba Journeyman Electrician Certificate of Qualification (required).
- Experience in residential electrical construction, renovations, and service work.
- Commercial electrical experience is considered an asset.
- Strong knowledge of the Canadian Electrical Code and applicable Manitoba electrical regulations.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, electrical drawings, and schematics.
- Experience troubleshooting electrical systems and diagnosing problems independently.
- Must have personal hand and power tools required for the trade (drills, screwdrivers, pliers, etc.). A list of required tools will be provided if needed.
- Strong attention to detail and pride in producing quality work.




- Ability to work efficiently and independently without constant supervision.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Willingness to assist, mentor, and supervise apprentices when required.
- Reliable, punctual, organized, and professional.
- Physical ability to perform manual tasks, including lifting, bending, climbing ladders, and standing for extended periods.
- Valid driver’s licence and reliable personal vehicle to travel to job sites (required).
