Optimil Machinery is a manufacturer of sawmill equipment and other related machinery. We are a family-run company and have been in business for over 40 years. We manufacture a wide variety of steel and aluminum parts. Our facility has a variety of different machine centres, all engaged in making high speed processing equipment for the forest industry.

We are looking for a saw operator/material handler to join our manufacturing team.

Duties

- selecting, measuring and cutting raw materials (steel, aluminum, metal parts) to the correct size and specifications, according to engineering drawings
- safely operate shop saws
- use overhead cranes to move and position large and heavy materials
- label and organize cut material for next stage of production (machining, fabrication)
- perform basic measurements and quality checks
- use hand tools to deburr and clean up cut or machined parts as required
- assist machinists and other shop personnel with material handling and job preparation
- assist with general shop duties and production work when required
- maintain a clean and organized work area
- follow all company safety policies and procedures

Requirements
- saw operating experience




- ability to read and understand engineering drawings
- good measuring skills and attention to detail
- comfortable working with large pieces of steel and other industrial materials
- forklift certificate, crane operation experience an asset
- comfortable using basic hand tools for deburring and general shop work
- excellent communication and organizational skills
- physically fit and able to lift and safely handle up to 40 lbs (18 kg)
- ability to work independently as well as part of a team
- solid safety-first attitude
- previous experience in an industrial machine shop, fabrication, manufacturing or industrial environment an asset

Day shift: 7:00am to 3:30 pm We offer a competitive wage and benefits package.
