Position Overview

We currently have an exciting opportunity for a reliable, organized, customer-focused Part-Time Scale Attendant to join our Sarnia transfer station. The schedule is 2 days a week from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. (20 hours weekly), with occasional Saturday shifts and additional coverage for vacations and staff absences.

Key Responsibilities

- Help maintain a clean and safe transfer station, including the scale house and surrounding areas. Duties may involve working outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Operate the scale and TrashFlow computer system; weigh vehicles in and out; direct customers to appropriate disposal and recycling areas; inspect loads; issue tickets; collect disposal fees and process scrap metal payouts; balance cash and prepare daily and monthly reports.
- Greet customers, answer telephones and perform other customer service and clerical duties.
- Assist with tracking customer accounts, invoices and solid waste disposal fees.
- Perform basic load screening and educate customers on acceptable materials and proper disposal procedures as needed.
- Perform site litter collection, minor custodial tasks and seasonal snow removal.
- Assist with other operational and administrative projects as required.

Qualifications:
- Valid Ontario Class G driver’s licence is considered an asset.
- Previous experience working in a transfer station, recycling or waste management environment is considered an asset.
- Previous scale operation,



cash handling or customer service experience is considered an asset.
- Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Excel and Word; ability to learn new software quickly; excellent organization and attention to detail.
- Ability to multitask, work independently and meet the physical demands of the role (including snow removal).
