Prolific Group, a Winnipeg-based manufacturing company with more than 50 years in business, is looking for a hands-on Senior Accountant who can keep the details accurate, turn financial information into useful insights, and help make accounting processes simpler, faster, and better.

The Opportunity

Reporting to the Vice President of Finance, the Senior Accountant will take a hands-on role in full-cycle accounting, including regular accounts payable entry and processing, month-end close, financial reporting, and analysis. The role combines strong accounting fundamentals with the opportunity to improve workflows, strengthen controls, and use technology to make recurring work simpler and more efficient. You’ll also help coordinate priorities across the accounting team and keep key deliverables moving.

What You’ll Do

- Prepare and review journal entries, general ledger accounts, balance-sheet reconciliations, and month-end close activities.
- Analyze expenses, account variances, and financial trends, and turn the findings into clear, useful insights.
- Support management reporting, budgeting and forecasting activities, and year-end or audit requirements.
- Enter and process accounts payable invoices, prepare payments, complete reconciliations, maintain vendor records, and resolve invoice or payment issues.
- Improve month-end routines, documentation, controls, and accounting workflows by reducing manual steps, duplicate entry, and spreadsheet-heavy processes.
- Use Microsoft tools, reporting, and practical automation to help the accounting team work more efficiently.

What We’re Looking For

- 5 or more years of hands-on, full-cycle accounting experience, ideally in a manufacturing environment.




- Strong experience with month-end close, journal entries, general ledger review, account reconciliations, expense and variance analysis, and financial reporting.
- Post-secondary education in accounting or finance, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Advanced Excel skills and confidence using Microsoft 365 tools.
- Experience with Microsoft Dynamics GP would be considered an asset.
- Experience with Power BI, Copilot, SharePoint, Teams, ERP systems, or workflow automation would be an asset.
- Strong attention to detail, sound judgment, and the curiosity to dig into the numbers and understand what is driving them.
- A practical team player who can work independently, support others, manage priorities, and contribute to better ways of working.

Compensation Salary range: $60,000 to $65,000 per year, based on experience.
