Senior Cockpit Experience Engineer
Greater Montreal, QC | Hybrid (3 days onsite) | Full-time Permanent position
Job Summary
Every decision a pilot makes starts with what they see in the cockpit. In this role, you make that experience intuitive, safe and seamless.
You'll lead human factors work on flight deck interfaces from the first concept all the way to certification. You'll test ideas in simulators, with prototypes and alongside real flight crews. Your work will span brand-new aircraft, major cockpit upgrades and fleets already in service.
If you're a senior human factors specialist who wants your expertise built into the aircraft, not filed away in a report, this is your role.
What you'll do
- Bring cognitive ergonomics expertise to how pilots perceive, decide and act, and turn it into better interface design
- Build simulations and prototypes that put ideas in front of users early
- Lead user-centred design and run scenario-based usability evaluations
- Work side by side with flight crews to assess how the cockpit feels and functions, physically and cognitively
- Own requirements development, task analysis and human error analysis
- Help take flight deck designs through human factors certification
- Document human factors work across new aircraft, major cockpit upgrades and in-service fleets
- Work across several aircraft programs,
not just one narrow product
What you bring
- Degree in engineering or science, plus education in cognitive ergonomics, psychology, industrial design or equivalent
- 10 years of aerospace experience, including aircraft systems, flight operations, regulations and design standards
- Hands-on cognitive ergonomics experience: perception, decision-making, workload, situation awareness and human error
- Working knowledge of physical ergonomics (reach, vision, anthropometry)
- Experience planning and running experiments, evaluations and validation tests
- Quick to pick up new software tools
- Strong technical writing and presentation skills in English; French is an asset
Why you'll love it!
- Your work goes into cockpits that pilots will actually fly
- A senior voice in flight deck design decisions
- Variety across new designs, upgrades and in-service support on several programs
- Hands-on time with flight crews, simulators and prototypes
- Permanent role with a hybrid schedule and comprehensive perks
- Relocation support to the Montreal region may be available for the right candidate
- Work permit sponsorship for candidates currently in Canada on a Study Permit or PGWP
