Golden Years Companions is hiring dependable, compassionate employees to provide non-medical companionship and everyday support to seniors in Peterborough and the surrounding area.

We are looking for reliable, caring people who take pride in their work and enjoy building meaningful relationships with the seniors they support. Our goal is to help seniors maintain their independence while giving their families peace of mind.

What you will do

Each client has an individual service plan. Your responsibilities may include:

- Providing companionship through conversation, games, reading, hobbies and outings.
- Helping with meal preparation, light housekeeping, laundry and everyday organization.
- Assisting with grocery shopping, errands and appointments.
- Providing transportation in an approved vehicle, where assigned.
- Providing scheduled relief for family caregivers.
- Completing a brief visit log after each shift.
- Reporting changes, concerns or safety issues promptly to management.

This is a non-medical role. Duties DO NOT include nursing, administering medications, hands-on bathing or toileting, or lifting clients. You would be a good fit if you:

- Are reliable, punctual and able to maintain a consistent weekly schedule.
- Enjoy spending time with older adults and respect their choices and independence.
- Communicate clearly and listen patiently.
- Are comfortable working independently in clients’ homes.
- Have good judgment and know when to ask for help.
- Respect confidentiality and professional boundaries.
- Can complete accurate visit notes and use email.
- Can safely perform the assigned household and companionship duties, with accommodation where appropriate.

Experience in senior support,



home support, community services, hospitality or a related field is an asset. Relevant family caregiving experience is also welcome. Successful applicants will be required to complete reference checks and an appropriate police record check, including a Vulnerable Sector Check, before independent client assignments.

Employees assigned to drive clients must have a valid driver’s licence, a satisfactory driving record and access to a reliable vehicle with insurance approved for the work.

First Aid and CPR certification is an asset. Please include any current certifications with your application.

Hours and working arrangements

Regular client visits are booked for a minimum of three consecutive hours. Please tell us which days and times you can consistently work and whether you are available for evenings or weekends.

As a new business, client assignments and weekly hours will develop as bookings grow. We will discuss expected hours and scheduling openly during the hiring process. Company orientation and guidance on service plans, documentation, boundaries, and safety procedures will be provided. Approved mileage and expense reimbursement arrangements will be explained before transportation assignments begin.
