Senior eCommerce Solutions Engineer (Ruby on Rails)

Position Overview

We are seeking a Senior eCommerce Solutions Engineer (Ruby on Rails) who combines strong hands-on development experience with solution architecture and client-facing consulting skills. This role requires someone who can understand complex eCommerce requirements, recommend technical solutions, design integrations, and guide developers through implementation while remaining actively involved in Ruby on Rails and Node.js development.

Responsibilities

- Work directly with clients to understand requirements, evaluate technical options, recommend solutions, and develop integration architecture.
- Design and build eCommerce integrations connecting Shopify with product information management (PIM), order management (OMS), inventory, and payment systems.
- Develop and maintain Ruby on Rails and Node.js services using background jobs, message queues, webhooks, and event-driven processing.
- Translate technical designs into Jira tickets, guide developers through implementation, conduct code reviews, and contribute hands-on development.
- Support multiple client projects, troubleshooting complex integrations, data synchronization, performance, and reliability issues.

Required Experience
- 5+ years of professional Ruby on Rails and Node.js development experience,



including recent hands-on Rails development.
- Hands-on Shopify experience with APIs, custom applications, extensions, functions, or Shopify Plus implementations.
- Experience designing and implementing integrations across multiple eCommerce builds, including PIMs, order management systems, and payment providers.
- Solid solution architecture and client-facing consulting skills, including evaluating requirements, explaining technical tradeoffs, recommending alternatives, and guiding implementation.
- Experience with asynchronous processing, background jobs, message queues, and event-driven integrations, along with the ability to work independently across multiple projects.

Preferred Experience
- Working knowledge of AWS services, including SQS/SNS, and cloud architecture options.
- Experience with PHP or additional eCommerce platforms such as Magento, BigCommerce, or WooCommerce.
- Experience with Docker, microservices, or other cloud infrastructure platforms.

This is a 12-month Contract opportunity with potential for hire with our Montreal, Quebec client. Low-cost employee benefits, paid time off, and paid Holidays. H-1B visa sponsorship is not available for this position. No third-parties, please.
