Winter Snow Shoveler

We are seeking dependable, hardworking, and safety-conscious Snow Shovel Labourer to join our winter snow removal team.

The successful candidate will manually remove snow and ice from sidewalks, walkways, building entrances, stairs, ramps, pedestrian pathways, and other designated areas. This role is essential to keeping our properties safe, accessible, and well maintained throughout the winter season. We service the Durham Region (Oshawa, Whitby, Port Perry, etc).

Key Responsibilities

- Manually shovel and push snow from sidewalks, walkways, entrances, stairs, ramps, and other assigned areas.
- Clear snow around doorways, curbs, parked vehicles, landscaping, and areas inaccessible to snow removal equipment.
- Apply salt or other approved ice-control materials when directed and trained to do so.
- Maintain safe and accessible pedestrian routes throughout assigned properties.
- Respond promptly to call-outs and report to the assigned site within one hour of being called.
- Follow instructions from the Operations Manager or designated team lead.
- Use shovels, snow pushers, ice scrapers, and other assigned tools safely and properly.
- Identify and report icy areas, unsafe conditions, hazards, and property damage.
- Communicate progress, site concerns, and completed work to the supervisor.
- Work safely around snow removal equipment and maintain communication with operators.
- Attend and complete assigned shifts reliably throughout the snow removal season.

To apply, you should have the following:

- G license and clean abstract
- Experience with clearing snow (shoveling)
- Ability to work outdoors in cold temperatures, snow, ice, and other winter conditions.
- Reliable transportation to and from start site
- Available (On Call) 24/7 to respond to all snow/ice events from Dec 1, 2026 to Mar 30, 2027 including all holidays (Christmas, Boxing Day, New Years etc.)




- Be able to work independently or as a team and monitor weather 24/7
- Ability to manage quality and timeliness of assigned snow shoveling/salting needs
- Be able to monitor and ensure the efficient use of materials and equipment
- Motivation, dedication, and ability to work in a safe and efficient manner
- Physically fit – ability to lift 50lbs or more

Guaranteed Weekly Pay: During designated standby periods, employees will be guaranteed payment equivalent to 16 hours per week at their regular hourly rate, subject to the written employment agreement. Hours actually worked during snow removal call-outs count toward the initial 16-hour weekly threshold. Additional hours and overtime will be paid in accordance with the employment agreement and applicable Ontario employment standards. Season-End Attendance Bonus: Eligible employees can earn a $1,000 season-end bonus by attending and completing all required shifts.

On-Call Requirements: Employees must be available for designated snow events and able to report to their assigned work site within one hour of being called.

All wages, hours worked, overtime, vacation pay, public holiday entitlements, and applicable minimum payments will be administered in accordance with Ontario employment standards and the written employment agreement.
