Blue Water Speech Therapy

Chestermere

Most job postings start by telling you what they want. I'd rather start by asking what you want.

Do you want flexibility? Meaningful relationships with families? Opportunities to grow and learn? Autonomy to practice in a way that aligns with your values?

Blue Water Speech Therapy is growing, and we’re looking for a Speech-Language Pathologist who believes that robust relationships, honest communication, and compassionate care create the best outcomes for children and families.

If you wish, this position will provide mentoring and excellent opportunities for growth and learning, making it suitable for a recent graduate or an SLP looking to expand their scope of practice. Supervision for SLP's looking to gain their CCC's is an option. If you are a more seasoned SLP, this role can give you autonomy and freedom.

The role involves providing in-person speech and language services including screening, evaluation, consultation, assessment, treatment planning, and therapy sessions for children with a range of abilities. We primarily serve preschool and school-aged children in Chestermere and East Calgary. Services are currently provided predominantly in families' homes, though a clinic space is on the horizon!

Clients have either FSCD contracts or they are private pay. All billing will be taken care of for you though!

We are currently looking at a contractor position, however there is great potential to transition into a salaried based employee.

As a contractor you will receive:

- Competitive wages
- Flexible work schedule
- Administrative Support

Candidates must have:

- A Masters degree in Speech and Language Pathology

- Registration with The College of Alberta of Speech Language Pathologists and Audiologists (ACSLPA)
- Professional liability insurance of at least $2 million
- Your own vehicle, auto insurance, and valid driver’s license

Successful Candidate will be required to provide a Police Information Check with Vulnerable Sector and Child Welfare check. You may be the right candidate for this job if:

- You are able to express your honest opinion in a kind and compassionate way.
- You are capable of delivering difficult news to families in a gentle way that both gives hope for progress and development, and also empowers them to take action.
- Playfulness: You find joy in connecting with children on their level and following their preferences for play.
- You recognize the value in building relationships of trust with children so they are willing to work with you.

Intuitive and Responsive:

- You sense when your strategy is not working and needs to be adjusted.
- You determine what motivates a child and integrate that motivation into various activities to keep the child engaged.
- You deliver strategies to families to advance the child’s speech goals throughout each day in a way that doesn’t feel like homework.

Passionate:

- You are excited about impacting children one-on-one in a meaningful way and enjoy witnessing their accomplishments.
