Step Up Autism Academy provides individualized services to children with autism and developmental needs. Our programs include Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA), speech and language support, occupational therapy, and academic support.

We are looking for a compassionate, motivated, and reliable Speech-Language Pathology Assistant (SLPA) to join our team and help children develop their communication, language, and social interaction skills.

Key Responsibilities

- Implement speech and language therapy activities under the direction and supervision of a Registered Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP).
- Work one-to-one with children with autism and other communication needs.
- Support the development of expressive and receptive language skills.
- Help children develop functional communication, vocabulary, and social communication skills.
- Implement individualized speech and language programs designed by the supervising SLP.
- Use play-based activities, visual supports, and communication tools as directed.
- Assist with the implementation of augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) strategies when trained and authorized.
- Record session notes and collect data on children's progress.
- Communicate relevant observations and progress to the supervising SLP and clinical team.
- Collaborate with ABA therapists and other professionals to support children's development.
- Maintain a safe, positive, and supportive learning environment.




- Follow confidentiality requirements, centre policies, and professional guidelines.

Qualifications
- Diploma or relevant education in Speech-Language Pathology Assistance, Communication Disorders, or a related field.
- Previous experience working with children with autism or developmental disabilities is preferred.
- Experience implementing speech and language activities with children is an asset.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Patient, compassionate, and enthusiastic about helping children develop communication skills.
- Current First Aid and CPR certification is an asset.
- Vulnerable Sector Check required.
