Supply Chain Manager
Location: Nisku, Alberta
Job Type: Full-Time
Reports To: President
Build Something That Matters
This is a unique opportunity for an individual who wants to build, improve, and have a meaningful impact on a growing organization.
This position will initially be highly hands-on, with direct responsibility for purchasing, supplier relationships, inventory, logistics, and day-to-day supply chain activities. You will also lead a small team and work closely with the Parts, Sales, Warehouse, Operations, and Finance functions.
At the same time, this is much more than a day-to-day purchasing role.
Our current systems, processes, and methods require analysis, improvement, and modernization. We are looking for someone who will take the time to understand how we currently operate, identify what works and what doesn't, challenge assumptions, and develop better ways of doing things.
The successful candidate will have the opportunity to help create new systems, processes, procedures, reporting tools, supplier strategies, and operational improvements.
This is a role for someone who asks:
"Why do we do it this way?"
—and then has the initiative to determine whether there is a better way.
About the Role
As the Supply Chain Manager, you will be responsible for purchasing, inventory management, supplier relationships, demand forecasting, logistics, and supply chain performance across our organization. Experience in Heavy Equipment and/or Parts is an asset.
Initially, this will be a highly hands-on role where you will be directly involved in day-to-day operations. As you learn the business and establish improvements, you will have the chance to build processes, develop systems, grow your team, and take on broader strategic responsibilities.
You will work closely with branch personnel, warehouse operations, parts departments, sales, finance, and senior leadership to ensure we have the right inventory in the right place at the right time.
Key Responsibilities
Supply Chain Leadership
- Initially lead a small team, develop team members and improve productivity.
- Evaluate and rationalize the existing supplier base.
- Build and develop a formal supply chain function to support business growth.
- Establish policies, procedures, reporting, and best practices.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives throughout the organization.
- Develop and mentor team members while promoting accountability and ownership.
Purchasing & Supplier Management
- Manage purchasing activities and supplier relationships.
- Source products and negotiate pricing, terms, freight, and lead times.
- Identify and develop strategic supplier partnerships.
- Evaluate supplier performance and implement supplier scorecards.
- Consolidate purchasing opportunities to improve pricing and service levels.
- Develop risk mitigation and alternate sourcing strategies.
Inventory & Demand Planning
- Develop inventory strategies that support customer service and profitability.
- Monitor inventory levels, replenishment, safety stock, and reorder points.
- Improve inventory turns while reducing stockouts.
- Manage obsolete and excess inventory initiatives.
- Analyze demand trends and forecast future requirements.
- Support inventory optimization across multiple branch locations.
Analytics & Process Improvement
- Analyze purchasing, inventory, and supplier performance data.
- Develop KPIs, dashboards, and reporting tools.
- Identify inefficiencies and implement practical solutions.
- Improve forecasting, replenishment, and inventory planning processes.
- Support ERP and system enhancement initiatives.
Logistics & Operational Support
- Oversee freight and logistics activities.
- Coordinate critical parts sourcing and expediting.
- Monitor backorders and supplier lead times.
- Work closely with operations and branch teams to support customer uptime.
What Success Looks Like In this role, you will be expected to improve:
- Inventory turns
- Product availability
- Fill rates
- Inventory accuracy
- Supplier performance
- Lead-time reliability
- Cost management
- Obsolete inventory levels
- Supply chain reporting and visibility
- Overall customer service and operational efficiency
You should be comfortable with ambiguity, change, and continuous improvement. Not every process will be fully defined when you arrive—and that is intentional.
We are looking for someone who sees that as an opportunity rather than a problem.
