Founder1st | Recruiting on Behalf of a Confidential Client

Location: St. Albert / Greater Edmonton, Alberta

Job Type: Full-time

Compensation: 80k-150k OTE

Benefits: Health benefits, professional development, licensing support, established client portfolio, office and administrative support

Ready to Build Your Own Future in Wealth Management?

At Founder1st, we're recruiting on behalf of our client, an established and growing private wealth management practice in the Greater Edmonton area.

Our client is seeking an ambitious, entrepreneurial Associate Wealth Advisor who is ready to take the next step in their career.

This is a unique opportunity to join an established advisory practice, receive an initial portfolio of existing client relationships, work directly alongside an experienced Senior Portfolio Manager, and develop your own growing book of business.

You won't be expected to build a practice entirely from scratch.

You'll have an established foundation, professional mentorship, administrative infrastructure, and the opportunity to generate new business while developing long-term client relationships.

We're looking for someone who wants more than another financial services position.

We're looking for someone who wants to build something meaningful.

About Our Client

Our client is an established private wealth management practice serving business owners, successful professionals, individuals, and families.

The practice takes a comprehensive, relationship-driven approach to wealth management, helping clients navigate investment decisions, retirement planning, wealth protection, and long-term financial strategy.

Their guiding philosophy is simple:

Relationships before transactions. People first. Always.

The team believes successful wealth management starts with understanding people, earning their trust, and delivering thoughtful advice that supports their long-term goals.

With an established client base, experienced leadership, and access to comprehensive wealth management infrastructure, the practice is entering its next stage of growth.

The right candidate will play an important role in that journey.

The Opportunity

As an Associate Wealth Advisor, you'll have two primary responsibilities:

1. Manage and develop an initial portfolio of existing client relationships.

You'll gradually assume responsibility for an assigned group of clients, ensuring they receive attentive service, ongoing financial guidance, and a consistent advisory experience.

2. Build and grow your own book of business.

You'll actively develop new client relationships, generate new assets, establish professional referral networks, and contribute to the practice's continued expansion.

This role combines the security of an established advisory environment with the earning potential and autonomy of an entrepreneurial career.

You'll work closely with a Senior Wealth Manager and a collaborative support team while developing the capabilities required to become an increasingly independent and successful wealth advisor.

What You'll Be Doing

Client Advisory & Relationship Management

- Manage and develop an assigned portfolio of existing client relationships.
- Build trusted, long-term relationships with individuals, families, business owners, and professionals.
- Conduct client discovery and financial planning conversations.
- Understand clients' objectives, circumstances, and financial priorities.
- Develop and present appropriate financial strategies within your qualifications and approved authority.
- Maintain proactive client communication and consistent follow-up.
- Collaborate with the Senior Portfolio Manager on client planning, portfolio discussions, and relationship transitions.
- Deliver an exceptional client experience.

Business Development & Growth

- Actively identify and pursue suitable recent client opportunities.
- Build and maintain a qualified prospect pipeline.
- Generate current assets through relationship development and client acquisition.
- Establish referral relationships with accountants, lawyers, business professionals, and other Centres of Influence.
- Participate in approved marketing,

networking, and business development initiatives.
- Develop a consistent process for prospecting, follow-up, and client conversion.
- Take ownership of your business development activities and results.

Professional Development & Collaboration

- Work closely with the Senior Portfolio Manager and support team.
- Learn and follow the practice's established wealth planning methodology.
- Maintain accurate client records and documentation.
- Follow all applicable regulatory, dealer, and compliance requirements.
- Participate in ongoing professional development and training.
- Contribute ideas that improve the client experience and support the practice's long-term growth.

Who We're Looking For We're interested in meeting a wealth management professional who has developed a solid foundation in the industry and is ready for greater responsibility, autonomy, and earning potential.

The ideal candidate is commercially ambitious, relationship-oriented, accountable, and genuinely motivated to build a successful long-term advisory practice.

Required Qualifications

- Relevant Canadian securities qualifications and eligibility for registration under the applicable dealer and regulatory requirements.
- Previous experience in wealth management, investment advisory, or a closely related financial services role.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Genuine interest in business development and client acquisition.
- Strong professional judgment, integrity, and a client-first mindset.
- Ability to work collaboratively within an established advisory team.
- Willingness to pursue additional professional qualifications as required.

Preferred Qualifications

- Approximately 2–5 years of relevant wealth management experience.
- Experience within a bank, investment dealer, independent advisory firm, or established financial services institution.
- Experience developing or managing client relationships.
- Demonstrated business development ability.
- An existing professional network or the ability to establish one.
- CFP or CIM designation, or progress toward obtaining these credentials.
- Life insurance licensing or willingness to obtain it.

The successful candidate will be expected to pursue the CFP designation within an agreed development period and work toward additional professional qualifications, including CIM, as appropriate to the role. An existing book of business is an advantage, but it is not mandatory.

We're equally interested in candidates who demonstrate the ambition, discipline, and relationship-building ability to develop one.

This provides a foundation for recurring revenue while you develop your own book of business.

There is no predetermined ceiling on your earning potential.

Work alongside an experienced Senior Portfolio Manager who is committed to developing the next generation of advisory talent.

Established Infrastructure

Access to an existing office workplace, administrative support, approved technology, and established client service processes.

Professional Development Support

Support for relevant licensing expenses, continuing education, and professional qualifications.

Flexibility & Autonomy A professional environment that values accountability, initiative, collaboration, and results.

Additional Benefits

- Health benefits.
- Professional licensing and education support.
- Office and administrative infrastructure.

- Established client planning resources.
- Collaborative team environment.
- Long-term career development opportunities.

Compensation Commission-based | Uncapped earning potential The compensation structure is designed to recognize two important contributions:

- Ongoing management and development of an assigned portfolio of existing client relationships.
- New business development and the acquisition of additional client assets.

Transitional compensation arrangements may be considered depending on the successful candidate's experience, existing book of business, and agreed commercial terms. Full compensation details, including the applicable commission structure, will be discussed with qualified candidates during the recruitment process.

Your First 90 Days

Our client believes successful advisors are developed through clear expectations, practical support, and consistent execution.

You'll receive a structured integration experience designed to help you become confident, productive, and increasingly independent.

First 30 Days — Learn & Integrate

Become familiar with the practice's advisory philosophy, client experience, team, systems, and wealth planning methodology.

Days 31–60 — Build & Develop

Begin taking on appropriate client-facing responsibilities, develop your prospect pipeline, and establish a consistent business development routine.

Days 61–90 — Execute & Grow

Demonstrate increasing independence, develop assigned client relationships, and build momentum through regular prospecting and client meetings.

The initial integration period is focused on building strong foundations, with commercial expectations increasing as you develop within the practice.

You'll Thrive in This Role If You...

- Have an entrepreneurial mindset and take ownership of your results.
- Are motivated to develop new relationships and grow a meaningful book of business.
- Enjoy working with people and helping them make key financial decisions.
- Appreciate mentorship while working toward greater independence.
- Are proactive, disciplined, and comfortable with business development.
- Value integrity, accountability, and long-term client relationships.
- Want to build a career with significant growth potential.

This opportunity may be particularly appealing if you've developed your experience within a traditional financial institution and are ready for a more entrepreneurial advisory workplace. If you're looking for a position with minimal business development responsibilities or a guaranteed fixed salary as your primary compensation, this may not be the right fit.
