Hiring: Shipper / Lead Hand – Bakery Distribution Location: Brampton, Ontario Industry: Bakery / Food Manufacturing Job Type: Full-Time, Permanent Job Summary Are you a reliable, organized, and hands-on Shipper / Lead Hand. Please join our client’s bakery distribution team in Brampton. The successful candidate will oversee daily shipping and distribution activities, coordinate the loading and dispatch of bakery products, and assist in supervising warehouse staff to ensure accurate, timely, and efficient deliveries. The ideal candidate has experience in shipping, receiving, warehouse operations, and team leadership, preferably in a bakery, food manufacturing, or food distribution environment. Key Duties and Responsibilities: • Coordinate daily shipping, receiving, order picking, packing, and dispatch activities. • Lead and coordinate the work of shippers, warehouse employees, and distribution staff. • Ensure bakery products are picked, packed, labelled, and shipped accurately according to customer orders. • Verify quantities, product codes, invoices, packing slips, and shipping documents. • Organize and prioritize orders to meet delivery schedules and customer requirements. • Coordinate the loading and unloading of delivery vehicles and ensure proper product handling. • Monitor product freshness, rotation, and storage conditions using FIFO (First In, First Out) procedures. • Ensure bakery products are handled and stored according to food safety and quality standards. • Maintain accurate shipping records, inventory counts, and documentation of damaged or missing products. • Communicate with production, warehouse, drivers, and management to resolve order discrepancies and delivery issues.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and secure shipping and warehouse area. • Ensure employees follow workplace health and safety procedures and company policies. • Assist with training new employees and monitoring daily team performance. • Identify shipping errors, delays, and process improvements to increase efficiency. • Perform hands-on warehouse and shipping duties as required. Qualifications and Requirements: • Previous experience in shipping, receiving, warehouse operations, or distribution. • Previous team lead or supervisory experience is an asset. • Experience in a bakery, food production, or food distribution environment is preferred. • Good organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills. • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet tight shipping deadlines. • Basic computer skills and experience with inventory or shipping systems. • Knowledge of food safety, sanitation, and FIFO procedures is an asset. • Ability to lift and move products as required. • Forklift experience or certification is an asset, if applicable. • Reliable, punctual, detail-oriented, and able to work independently or as part of a team.
