As our commercial construction division continues to expand, we are seeking a dedicated and experienced Skilled Construction Labourer to join our team.

Role Overview

JWC is seeking a versatile and dependable Skilled Construction Labourer for commercial renovation and construction projects across Southern Ontario.

The successful candidate will work alongside Site Supervisors and project teams to complete commercial fit-ups, tenant improvements, office renovations, retail spaces, and other construction projects. This position is ideal for someone with broad construction knowledge who enjoys hands-on work and takes pride in delivering quality craftsmanship.

Key Responsibilities

- Perform commercial renovation and construction activities as directed by the Site Supervisor
- Assist with steel stud framing and drywall installation
- Install commercial doors, hardware, trim, and millwork
- Install flooring, ceiling systems, wall finishes, and specialty finishes
- Complete painting, caulking, patching, and finishing work
- Support demolition, site preparation, and material handling activities
- Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and project specifications
- Measure and prepare materials accurately for installation
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
- Operate power tools and construction equipment safely and efficiently
- Identify deficiencies and complete touch-ups before project completion




- Coordinate with subcontractors and other trades as required
- Assist with mentoring and supporting entry-level labourers and apprentices
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and company policies

Qualifications & Skills Required

- Minimum 3+ years of experience in commercial construction, renovations, or fit-up projects
- Experience with one or more of the following:
- Drywall installation and repairs
- Steel stud framing
- Suspended ceilings (T-Bar)
- Flooring installations
- Finish carpentry
- Painting and finishing
- Commercial renovations
- Ability to read construction drawings and specifications
- Experience using hand and power tools safely
- Strong problem-solving and organizational skills
- Excellent attention to detail and quality workmanship
- Ability to work independently and within a team environment
- Physically capable of lifting and carrying up to 50 lbs

Preferred Qualifications

- Working at Heights Certification
- First Aid/CPR Certification
- WHMIS Certification
- Valid G Driver's License with reliable transportation
- Forklift, Scissor Lift, or Boom Lift certification (asset)
- Previous experience on commercial improvement projects (asset)

Work Environment

- Active commercial construction sites
- Outdoor work environments
- Exposure to noise, dust, and construction equipment
- Travel to job sites throughout Southern Ontario
- Physical work involving lifting, climbing, kneeling, bending, and standing for extended periods

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: $25.00-$30.00 per hour

Education:

- AEC / DEP or Skilled Trade Certificate (preferred)

Experience:

- Skilled Labourer: 1 year (required)
- Skilled Labor: 1 year (preferred)

Licence/Certification:

- Driver's License (required)
- First Aid & Working at Heights Certification (required)
