Our diverse and dynamic team strives to innovate to make things better, work as one team, serve proudly, and lead responsibly.ResponsibilitiesThe Intergovernmental Relations Manager is responsible for managing the City of Kelowna’s overall strategic direction in intergovernmental relations, representing the City’s position and interests by communicating and negotiating with other levels of government and agencies. This position leads and manages the development of strong, impactful, and trusted relationships with federal, provincial, municipal/regional government and intergovernmental officials to proactively identify opportunities that advance and deliver on Council’s advocacy priorities, the City’s strategic interests, and emerging advocacy opportunities.QualificationsAn experienced professional with excellent innovation, interpersonal, communication, and negotiation skills, you hold a university degree in public administration or public policy or related discipline or an equivalent combination of training, education, and experience.



Significant related qualified experience including public sector government experience where programs and initiatives were advanced through superior relationship management, issues management and corporate communications. Considerable experience developing and implementing strategic stakeholder and intergovernmental relations plans. Extensive experience providing advice to senior staff and elected officials. Experience managing and/or supervising staff and consultants. Considerable knowledge of and demonstrated skills in developing and implementing strategic communications, intergovernmental, stakeholder, and advocacy plans that advance public policy objectives.
