The successful candidate will play a critical role in accurately forecasting project costs and ensuring competitive, profitable, and successful project execution.SummaryThe Estimator assesses the costs, resources, and time required for specific projects. They analyze project requirements, gather data, and use estimation techniques to determine the likely expenses and duration of the project, contributing to informed decision-making and successful project execution. In short, the Estimator is responsible for the day to day preparation of estimates and proposals.ResponsibilitiesPrepare estimates of labour and/or material costsPrepare pre-qualification submissions to present clientsRead blueprints,



drawings and specifications to determine work requirementsPrepare master format estimates (Class A)Operate CADD and other computer software systemsPrepare estimates for general expenses and overheadsProvide economic feasibility studies and preliminary estimates for proposed projectsProject cash flow and financing requirementsCreate and submit estimate reports, quote sheets and bids formsUtilize quantity take-off proceduresAnalyze tenders and recommend awardsSet up cost monitoring and reporting systemsMonitor and adjust contract expendituresLiaise, consult and communicate with engineers, architects, owners, contractors and subcontractors on changes and adjustments to cost estimatesRequirementsA minimum of three years (3 years) experience in estimation/project management in the construction industry (preference given to those with experience in custom steel//bridges//structural work)Undergraduate degree in engineering or post-secondary diploma in a construction related discipline is considered an asset.General civil construction knowledge; understanding of plans,specifications, methods and procedures.Extensive knowledge of the principles involved in bid preparation, including quantity take off procedures, sub-trade procurement, pricing and bid closing procedures.Proven ability to handle multiple projects and deadlines.
